    Scranton, PA – Dan Candemeres (Holbrook, NY/Sachem East) scored a career-high 27 points including the 1,000th point of his collegiate career, but host Marywood University survived a furious second half comeback bid by Keystone College to escape with a 94-92 victory. The Pacers improve to 10-6 on the season and 5-4 in league play after defeating the Giants (4-11, 4-5 CSAC) for the first time since 2011. Candemeres reached the 1,000-point plateau by draining a three-pointer with 5:27 remaining in the second half during Keystone's rally that saw the hosts trim a 23-point deficit to a single point. The senior guard, who now has 1,011 career points for the navy and orange, becomes the 17th player in program history to reach the milestone and joins classmates Duncan Lunsford (Marietta, GA/Sprayberry) and Miles Dargan (Orlando, FL/Wekiva) as members of the exclusive club.

The Giants, who notched their second conference win in as many nights, lifted their record to 3-9 on the season and 3-4 in league play while the Defenders remain winless in 13 contests on the year (0-7 CSAC).

  • Lunsford Becomes Keystone’s All-Time Leading Scorer in Setback to Kean

    Hampden-Sydney, VA – Duncan Lunsford (Marietta, GA/Sprayberry) became the all-time scoring leader in Keystone College men's basketball history on Friday afternoon in the consolation game of the Luck Stone Holiday Tournament hosted by Hampden-Sydney College, but it wasn't enough as Kean University held off the Giants for a 65-51 victory. Lunsford tied for a game-high with 14 points in the loss and now has 1,537 for his career, the most by a Keystone player since the Giants began play in the 1936-37 season. In one fell swoop early in the second half of Friday's, Lunsford moved from third to first on Keystone's all-time scoring list. The senior forward scored on a layup 55 seconds into the second half to move into sole possession of second place ahead of Kenneth Hardnett (1,529 from 2008-2012) before tying Destin Scott's previous record of 1,533 (2000-2002; 2003-2005) on a jumper with 15:59 left in regulation. Lunsford then broke the record on a layup with 14:57 remaining.

    Hampden-Sydney, VA – Sewanee: the University of the South, scored a buzzer-beating lay-up on Thursday afternoon to edge Keystone College's men's basketball team, 66-64 on the opening day of the Luck Stone Holiday Tournament hosted by Hampden-Sydney College. The Tigers improve to 4-3 on the season and advance to Friday's championship game against the winner of the Hampden-Sydney-Kean University nightcap while the Giants will now look for their first win of the season in Friday's consolation game at 1:00 p.m. Duncan Lunsford (Marietta, GA/Sprayberry) scored a game-high 24 points on Thursday to lead Keystone and the senior forward is now just 11 points shy of becoming the all-time leading scorer in Giants' history.

The Red Flash picked up their first win of the season to improve to 1-2 while the Giants (0-2), who got a game-high 25 points from Duncan Lunsford, will now look for their first win of the year in next Tuesday’s conference opener.
