Brito Named NABC All-District and D3hoops.com All-Region Player of the Year
March 19, 2025KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) has announced the 2024-2025 NABC Division III All-District Teams and District Coaches of the Year today and for the third year in a row, Octavio Brito of the Keene State College men's basketball has earned district honors, as he was not only named to the District 2 First Team, but he was also named the District 2 Player of the Year. Along with the NCBA honors, D3hoops.com announced their All-Region teams as well, which also saw Brito be selected to the First Team All-Region 2 for the third time, to go with his selection as the All-Region 2 Player of the Year. The All-Region teams are nominated by the Sports Information Directors at the various schools, and then were voted on by SIDs on a predetermined number of players in their region. -

Storybook Season Continues for Wesleyan with OT Win over Emory in Elite Eight
March 15, 2025In a pulse-pounding thriller that came down to the final seconds, the Wesleyan men's basketball team came out on top in a 61-58 overtime win over Emory in the NCAA Elite 8 round played at Silloway Gymnasium on Saturday night. With the win, the Cardinals (30-1) continue an already historic season, advancing to the Final Four for the first time in program history. -

March 14, 2025Fifth-year All-American guard and third-year team captain Adam Brazil (Mooresville, NC) scored a game-high 18 points, adding five assists, and junior forward and team captain Shane Fernald (Charlotte, NC) had 17 points and six rebounds, but nationally-ranked No. 10 Hampden-Sydney College dropped an 83-72 decision to No. 15 the University of Redlands (CA) in the third round of the NCAA Division III Men's Basketball Championship Sectionals (Sweet 16) on Friday evening at the John A. Paulson Center on the campus of New York University in New York, New York. The Tigers trailed 44-31 at halftime and 66-40 with 12:02 remaining, before a late rally fell just short, as the Garnet & Grey used a 28-9 run to close to within 75-68 at 2:44. H-SC completes its season with a final record of 23-6, while the Bulldogs improved to 25-4 and were led by Kendrick Currey with 15 points and a game-high six assists, and Chozen Amadi with 14 points. -

March 14, 2025The Western New England men's basketball team will look to continue their run in the NCAA Tournament on Friday night with a win over Trinity College (Conn.), the fourth ranked team in NCAA Division III. WNE won their last two games by defeating Hamilton College and Montclair State University in the NCAA Championships first and second rounds, respectively, to get to the NCAA Third Round game. -

In the end, though, it was Illinois Wesleyan Karlo Colak who provided the last bit of dramatics, hitting a shot in the paint with under a second to go to lift the ninth-ranked Titans past the Johnnies 75-73 in the second round of the NCAA Division III tournament at the University of Chicago's Gerald Ratner Athletics Center. -
12th-Ranked Captains Fall to 20th-Ranked Roanoke, 77-75, in Second Round NCAA Action
March 08, 2025Christopher Newport University's second half comeback fell just short Saturday night, as Roanoke College edged the Captains, 77-75, to advance in the NCAA Division III Men's Basketball Tournament. Senior Joshua McClary's 17-footer with 4.4 seconds remaining proved to be the difference, as fifth-year senior Jahn Hines' last-second driving layup attempt missed the mark, sending the Maroons to the Sweet 16 to play Catholic University next Friday. Jahn Hines, a three-time All-American and three-time conference Player of the Year, saw his remarkable career come to a close after 123 games as a Captain. He recorded his second straight double-double by scoring 32 points and pulling down 11 rebounds. It marked his sixth double-double of the season, and the fifth time this year he posted 30 or more points for the Captains. Hines ends his career with 2,086 points, second only to Lamont Strothers' 2,709 points scored from 1987-1991. -
