Brito Named NABC All-District and D3hoops.com All-Region Player of the Year

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) has announced the 2024-2025 NABC Division III All-District Teams and District Coaches of the Year today and for the third year in a row, Octavio Brito of the Keene State College men's basketball has earned district honors, as he was not only named to the District 2 First Team, but he was also named the District 2 Player of the Year. Along with the NCBA honors, D3hoops.com announced their All-Region teams as well, which also saw Brito be selected to the First Team All-Region 2 for the third time, to go with his selection as the All-Region 2 Player of the Year. The All-Region teams are nominated by the Sports Information Directors at the various schools, and then were voted on by SIDs on a predetermined number of players in their region.
 
Brito is named to both the NABC All-District 2 First Team and the D3hoops.com First Team All-Region 2 for the third time in his career, as he has earned the award for his sophomore and junior seasons for the Owls. His selections as NABC District 2 Player of the Year and D3hoops.com Region 2 Player of the Year are the second year in a row that an Owl has earned the recognition, as his former teammate, Jeff Hunter, earned the awards in the 2023-2024 season. Brito finished his senior campaign for the Owls by averaging career-highs in points (22.0 per game, 1.6 more than his previous best during his sophomore season), rebounds (8.9 per game, 1.0 more than his previous best from his junior season), assists (3.4 per game, .3 more than his junior season), and blocks (1.5 per game, .5 more than his sophomore season). Shooting 225-for-434 (.518) from the field (eighth best in the LEC), Brito recorded the sixth most points in all of NCAA DIII Men's basketball on the year with 639 points on the season, 86 more points than the next closest in the LEC, while his 225 field goals made were the ninth-most in all of NCAA DIII this season. Brito finished tied for second in the conference in PPG, by 0.1, which ranked the 26th most PPG across the 2024-2025 season in DIII, while making the second-most threes in the conference with 67 and tying for the third-best mark of 2.3 threes per game on the year in the LEC.
 
Aside from scoring, Brito finished the season with 258 rebounds, tied for the 26th most in all of DIII, along with leading the conference in assists and the third-best assist to turnover ratio with a 1.8 ratio. His 1.5 blocked shots per game are also the second-most in the LEC on the year from his 43 blocks. Brito finishes his career as an Owl with 2,206 career points, the second most in program history, and the ninth-best 18.9 points per game for an Owl. His 789 field goals are the fourth-most in program history, of which his 268 threes are the third most for the Owls and 360 free throws made are also the fourth-most. Brito also finishes among the top-10 in rebounds with the fifth most with 838, ninth in assists with 307, sixth in blocked shots with 115, and ninth in steals with 166.
