JAMAICA, N.Y. – Keystone men's basketball dropped the semifinal matchup of the York Invitational to Westfield State, 102-80, Friday evening at the York College Gymnasium in non-conference play.
The Owls jumped out to an early 13-point lead and never looked back. The Giants made it a close four-point game at the 10-minute mark of the first half, but Westfield State re-extended its lead to soar for the eventual victory.
Outstanding Performers
- Tone Cockrell (Upper Marlboro, Md./Landon School) surpassed the 1,000 career points mark after hitting a top-of-the-key jumper with just under nine minutes left in the first half. The graduate senior finished 23 points, three rebounds, four assists and one steal.
- Jack Anderson (Davie, Fla./Western High) had his second-consecutive 20-plus points game, matching Cockrell with 23 points.
- Kuany Teng led the Owls on 8-for-10 shooting, going 6 of 8 from beyond the arc for 22 points.
- Westfield State's Brendon Hamilton recorded a double-double with 20 points (8 of 12 field goals) and 17 rebounds.
- Justin Rennis and JT Thompson also scored double-digit figures for the Owls with 22 and 18 points, respectively.
