December 17, 2024 Griffins Win 10th Straight as Five Score in Double Figures versus Eagles Florham Park, N.J. - (12/17/2024) - Gwynedd Mercy University (10-0) made it 10 in a row in 2024 with this evening's 105-70 victory at Saint Elizabeth University (3-8)! The Red and Gold's ferocious defense forced the Eagles into a program-record 36 turnovers and totaled a program-record 30 steals in the impressive effort that placed five Griffins in double figures. Junior guard Jalen Snead (Philadelphia, Pa.) led the pride on both sides of the ball with 15 points and six steals; he also grabbed two rebounds and made four assists. Gwynedd Mercy University shot 50.0% (42-of-84) from the floor, scoring 56 points in the paint, 48 points off turnovers, 32 points on the fast break, and 21 points on second chances.
December 14, 2024 Red and Gold Shoots Down Dutchmen Gwynedd Valley, Pa. - (12/14/2024) - Lebanon Valley College (5-3) became the latest on the Griffins' list of victims for 2024 as a 58.6% (17-of-29 3PT) shooting performance from long range, 23 assists on 30 baskets (30-of-63, .476), and just four Red and Gold turnovers earned Gwynedd Mercy University (9-0) a 83-69 victory over the Dutchmen. Senior guard Aquil Stewart (Philadelphia, Pa.) headlined Gwynedd Mercy University's impressive three-point shooting performance with his 6-of-11 (.545) clip. He led four Griffins in double figures with 20 points; senior guard Mike Marable (Philadelphia, Pa.) (14 points), senior forward Dom Thomas (Mullica Hill, N.J.) (13), and graduate guard Shawn Summers Jr. (Montclair, N.J.) (12) were the others. The first led the Red and Gold in assists (8) and the second led them in rebounds (6).
December 9, 2024 Men's Basketball Muscles Past Highlanders For Eighth Straight Win Gwynedd Valley, Pa. - (12/9/2024) - Gwynedd Mercy University (8-0) scored the first nine points of the contest, 9-0 (16:52), and led Cairn University (6-3) by as many as 16 points, 32-16 (4:05), before taking a 36-24 lead into intermission. In the second half, early turnovers allowed the Highlanders to take a brief lead, 50-49 (9:50), before a three-point play from senior forward Dom Thomas (Mullica Hill, N.J.) (52-50, 9:05) and a three pointer from sophomore guard Justin Savage (Philadelphia, Pa.) (55-50, 8:03) gave the Griffins just enough cushion to withstand in a 73-70 final. Graduate guard Shawn Summers Jr. (Montclair, N.J.) led Gwynedd Mercy University with a season-high 22 points; he was 9-of-12 (.750) from the field, including a perfect 3-of-3 (1.000) from long range, and he hit his only free throw attempt (1-of-1, 1.000), while grabbing three rebounds, making three assists, and recording two steals.

The Red and the Gold had an outstanding shooting night with a .529 (36-of-68) field goal percentage, a .438 (14-of-32) three-point percentage, and a .938 (15-of-16) free throw percentage; the last serve's as a season's best thus far. Senior forward Dom Thomas (Mullica Hill, N.J.) led five Griffins in double figures with 16 points, while senior guard Mike Marable (Philadelphia, Pa.) was a factor without reaching double digits with eight points, seven rebounds, five assists, and three blocks.
December 4, 2024 Griffins Stay Perfect with Overtime Win versus Golden Wolves Reading, Pa. - (12/4/2024) - Gwynedd Mercy University (6-0) kept their undefeated streak intact with this evening's 91-90 overtime triumph at Alvernia University (4-2). The Griffins trailed the Golden Wolves by 11 points at halftime, 51-40 (0:04), but erased the deficit early in the second half, 60-60 (13:50), and sent the contest to the extra frame with a successful free throw from junior guard D.J. Johnson (Norristown, Pa.); 81-81 (0:05). In the overtime period, another Johnson free throw gave the Red and Gold a late lead, 88-87 (1:53), before a last-second drive from graduate guard Shawn Summers Jr. (Montclair, N.J.) delivered the finishing blow of a 91-90 (0:07) victory. Five Griffins finished in double figures, including Summers (19 points) and Johnson (11). So did senior guard Mike Marable (Philadelphia, Pa.), who had his finger prints all over the win with a dozen (12) points, seven rebounds, two assists, four blocks, and four steals.
November 26, 2024 First Half Theme Continues as Griffins Give Eagles No Quarter Gwynedd Valley, Pa. - (11/26/2024) - In a blink, Gwynedd Mercy University (5-0) owned a 13-0 (12:44) lead over Juniata College (0-6). The Griffin defense suffocated the Eagles as 14 turnovers, a 17.9% (5-of-28) shooting performance, and zero trips to the free throw line allowed the Red and Gold lead to surpass 20 points, 25-4 (4:56), on a layup from senior guard Mike Marable (Philadelphia, Pa.) with five minutes to play in the first half. Following a 36-11 (0:35) intermission, Gwynedd Mercy University increased their advantage to as many as 38 points, 64-26 (10:42), before balancing the floor in a 80-48 (0:02) conclusion. The Red and Gold's aggressive defense sprung graduate guard Shawn Summers Jr. (Montclair, N.J.) and senior guard Aquil Stewart (Philadelphia, Pa.) for high-scoring performances; the former scored 20 points for a third straight game with six field goals (6-of-10, .600) and six free throws (6-of-6, 1.000), while the latter totaled 18 points with six field goals (6-of-11, .545) and three free throws (3-of-5, .600).
