Red and Gold Honors Impressive Senior Class with AEC Win over Cavaliers

Gwynedd Valley, Pa. - (2/3/2024) - Gwynedd Mercy University (14-8, 7-2) welcomed Cabrini University (7-15, 3-6) to the Griffin Complex for today's Atlantic East Conference (AEC) contest. The Griffins overtook the Cavaliers at 20-19 on a jumper from sophomore guard Jalen Snead (Philadelphia, Pa.) with 7:32 remaining in the first half and tightly held the lead for a 33-32 (0:48) halftime advantage.Graduate guard Manny Clark (Pottsgrove, Pa.) kept the Red and Gold in the lead in the first five minutes of the second half, 43-42 (14:50), but Snead's clutch defense and career-high 15 points served as the true difference maker in a 75-64 Gwynedd Mercy University triumph. Prior to the affair, the Red and Gold faithful honored senior guard Aziz Parker (Westampton, N.J.), senior guard JoHaan Vinson (Philadelphia, Pa.), and Clark in a joyus Senior Day ceremony.

Griffin Highlights

  • Gwynedd Mercy University struggled from long range (2-of-19, .105), but made up for it with a 44-36 advantage on the glass and just nine turnovers.
  • The Griffins did make use of the free throw line, hitting 17-of-23 (.739) from the charity stripe; Parker led the effort with an 8-of-8 (1.000) showing.
  • Parker was one of four Griffins in double figures. He scored 11 points to go with a team-high ning rebounds.
  • Clark scored a team-high 16 points. He also grabbed eight rebounds, made an assist, and a steal.
  • Snead added four rebounds, three assists, a block, and two steals to his 15 points.
  • Junior guard Mike Marable (Philadelphia, Pa.) totaled 10 points, six rebounds, and two assists while aiding Snead on the defensive front with four blocks and two steals.

Gwynedd Mercy University continues their AEC schedule on Wednesday, February 7, when they visit Immaculata University for an 8:00 p.m. contest.
