Western New England Earns 70-65 Road Victory over Endicott in CCC Quarterfinals

(February 19, 2019) – The fifth-seeded Western New England University men's basketball team earned its first win in the Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) Tournament in over a decade with a 70-65 victory over fourth-seeded Endicott College in the quarterfinal round on Tuesday night at MacDonald Gymnasium.

(January 6, 2018) – Led by a career effort from junior guard Mikey Pettway (Bridgeport, Conn.), the Western New England University men's basketball team knocked off Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) preseason favorite and No. 21 nationally ranked Nichols College 100-94 in overtime on Saturday at the Nichols Athletic Center.

January 20, 2015SPRINGFIELD, Mass.--Sophomore Mike Gelineau nailed a three-pointer with 14 seconds remaining in the game to lift Western New England to a thrilling 74-71 victory Tuesday over Salve Regina in Commonwealth Coast Conference men's basketball action at the Alumni Healthful Living Center field house, giving Coach Mike Theulen his 100th win on the Golden Bears sideline. With its first home win of the season, Western New England improves to 5-11 overall and 3-6 in the CCC. The Seahawks drop to 4-12 overall and 1-8 in the conference.

Golden Bears Hang On to Topple Eastern Nazarene from First Place in the CCC, 79-76
January 11, 2014SPRINGFIELD, Mass.--The Western New England University men's basketball team picked up its first Commonwealth Coast Conference victory in a big way on Saturday afternoon by edging visiting Eastern Nazarene College, 79-76, at the Alumni Healthful Living Center. The Golden Bears snap a six-game losing streak to improve to 3-9 overall and 1-5 in the CCC. With the loss, the Lions (10-2, 4-2) were knocked from atop the CCC standings and now sit in second place with four other teams one game behind co-leaders Endicott and Nichols colleges, which both won today.

WNE's Askew Tabbed CCC Men's Basketball Rookie of the Week
December 03, 2012SPRINGFIELD, Mass. - Western New England University freshman forward Zack Askew (Middletown, Conn./ Vinal Technical High School) has been named the Commonwealth Coast Conference Rookie of the Week in men’s basketball, it was announced on Monday. The Golden Bears finished the week with a 2-0 CCC record, which is their best start in conference play since the 2006-07 season.

DeWayne Wynn and Damon Alston Lift Golden Bears to First Win of the Season
November 29, 2012SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – DeWayne Wynn scored 12 points off the bench – including the game-winning lay-in with 7 seconds left – to lift host Western New England University to a thrilling 68-67 victory Wednesday in Commonwealth Coast Conference men’s basketball action at the Alumni Healthful Living Center. The Golden Bears won their first game of the season in four starts while the Fighting Scots fall to 1-2 overall in the CCC opener for both schools.
