Knudsen won MVP at the DePauw Tournament as Millikin cruised to victory over a couple of traditionally strong opponents. Knudsen averaged 33 points, five rebounds, two assists, two blocks, and three steals per game. She shot 59% from the floor and missed just one FT on the week.
Arianna Gerig
Mary Schleusner
Schleusner recorded three huge games last week to help the Generals to wins in each contest. She started off with 33 points, 16 rebounds, four blocks, and three steals in an 86-67 win at Averett, followed by 28 points, 14 boards, and six blocks in an 80-65 win over Salisbury, wrapping up with 24 points, 14 rebounds, three blocks, and three steals the next day in a win over Juniata. Schleusner made at least 10 field goal attempts in all three games and shot no worse than 65% from the floor in each game.
Men's
Steph Baxter
Baxter averaged 34 points on 51% shooting to go along with five assists and five rebounds to earn Lopata Classic MVP honors, despite playing in the consolation game. Babson split a pair of close games in St. Louis, but Baxter was at the center of both. He scored a career-high 40 points and dished out five assists against just one turnover on as the Beavers suffered a 90-85 OT loss to No. 22 Washington U. He followed it up with 25 points and five assists to help the Beavers defeat UW-Eau Claire, 78-71, on Saturday.
Pal Dak
Dak averaged 30 points and six rebounds over three games this week, while shooting 63% from the field and 70% from beyond the arc. With a previous career high of 21 points, Dak exploded in the Cougar home opener for 31 in an 86-64 win over Augsburg. After scoring 19 in a neutral-site loss to Cornell, Dak hung 40 on Wartburg in another win.
Jake Harrison
Harrison led WNE to three tight wins on the week, including a victory in their home tournament. He averaged 30 points and 11 rebounds on 73% shooting (83% from deep), dishing out five assists and two steals per game. The highlight of the week was a career-high 33 point performance against Cortland.
Daniel Cook
Cook earned Mark's Pizzeria Crosstown Shootout Tournament MVP after leading the Cardinals to a 2-0 record, with wins over RIT and University of Rochester. In the game against RIT he finished two assists shy of a triple-double, tallying 20 points, 17 rebounds, and eight assists (along with a steal and two blocks). On the week, Cook averaged 19 points, 14 boards, five assists, two steals, and two blocks per game, shooting 54% from the floor.
Trey Barber
Barber led the top-ranked Captains to a pair of wins over nationally ranked opponents. First, against No. 14 Randolph-Macon, Barber scored 12 points and added eight rebounds (in a very low scoring game). Then, in a matchup with No. 12 Johns Hopkins, Barber scored a career-high 31 points, including the game-winning tip-in with two seconds remaining to power the Captains to a 75-73 win. He added a team-high seven rebounds, blocked three shots, and dished a pair of assists with two steals in the game.
