February 27, 2026BOSTON, Mass. – One month and three days ago, the University of Massachusetts-Boston went 39-of-50 at the foul line and defeated the Keene State College men’s basketball team 93-80 at the Clark Athletic Center to sweep the season series for the first time ever. The defeat dropped the Owls to just 9-9 and 6-4 in the conference. Eight wins and just one loss later, KSC will now play for the Little East Conference championship – again. Cooper poured in 26 points on another efficient effort, making 10-of-19 from the field and 3-of-5 from three-point range, while sophomore Franklin Pierce University transfer Kareem Porter added 13 points on 5-of-9 shooting, 16 rebounds, and two critical free throws late as the Owls downed the University of Massachusetts-Boston 75-72 to end the Beacons’ season Friday night in the conference tournament semifinals at the Clark Athletic Center. -

Christopher Newport Advances to C2C Title Game Thanks to Comeback and OT Victory
February 27, 2026Christopher Newport University scored the final five points of regulation Friday night to force overtime, and then held off UC Santa Cruz at West Field House, 77-74, in the semifinals of the Coast-To-Coast Athletic Conference Tournament. The Captains, ranked tenth in the nation, improved to 21-4 and will play the University of Mary Washington Saturday night at 8:00 p.m. at KP Arena for the title. Mary Washington, ranked seventh in the country, ousted Salisbury in the first semifinal on Friday, 55-46, to improve to 23-3 on the season. Christopher Newport trailed for most of the game Friday, and was looking at a five-point deficit, 64-59, with just 1:23 remaining in the second half. The Captains rallied as junior Toa Hollenbeck scored the final seven CNU points of regulation to pull the Captains into a 66-66 tie after 40 minutes. Hollenbeck evened the game on a driving layup while drawing a foul with 11 seconds remaining, and his free throw to complete the three-point play forced extra time. Hollenbeck and junior Zyir Baskerville then each added five more points in the OT as the Captains out-scored the Slugs, 11-8, in the extra period to advance to the title game. -

February 26, 2026Gwynedd Valley, Pa. – (2/26/26) - #2 Gwynedd Mercy University (19-7) earned their spot in the 2025-2026 Atlantic East Conference (AEC) Men's Basketball Championship with a commanding 96-77 semifinal victory over #3 Centenary University (11-15). While the Red and Gold held the lead for most of the game, a dominate second half performance pushed them past the Cyclones with ease. Senior guard Jalen Snead (Philadelphia, Pa.) led all scorers with 28 points, including the first-half layup that put the Griffins in the lead (18-16, 10:36) and provided them with a momentum they never lost.
