May 30, 2023 Maurice Kearney Named Cortland Men's Basketball Head Coach Maurice Kearney has been named the men's basketball head coach at SUNY Cortland, according to Director of Athletics Mike Urtz. Kearney replaces Tom Spanbauer, who retired from the position this past spring after 28 years at the helm.
March 28, 2023 Long-time Cortland coach Spanbauer announces retirement Tom Spanbauer has announced his retirement after 28 years as head coach of the SUNY Cortland men's basketball program. He will continue to work at Cortland as the women's tennis head coach – a position he's held since 2006 – and as a physical education instructor. A national search will be conducted for the position later this spring.
March 3, 2023 Cortland's Austin Grunder Repeats as SUNYAC Player of the Year SUNY Cortland senior forward/guard Austin Grunder (Trumansburg/Charles O. Dickerson) has been named the 2022-23 State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) Men's Basketball Player of the Year for the second straight year and freshman forward Aaron Coston (Kerhonkson/Rondout Valley) has been chosen as the SUNYAC Rookie of the Year in a vote of the league’s coaches.
February 21, 2023 Cortland Blisters the Nets in 93-55 SUNYAC First-Round Win vs. Geneseo CORTLAND, N.Y. – Cortland shot 61 percent from the field, including 88 percent (21-of-24) in the first 16 minutes of the second half, and the Red Dragons cruised past visiting Geneseo, 93-55, in the opening round of the 2023 SUNYAC men's basketball tournament.
February 18, 2023 Cortland Men Clinch SUNYAC Third Seed with 67-60 Win at Geneseo GENESEO, N.Y. – Austin Grunder (Trumansburg/Charles O. Dickerson) scored 30 points, grabbed 12 rebounds and handed out four assists as Cortland clinched the third seed in the upcoming SUNYAC men's basketball tournament with a 67-60 victory at Geneseo.

Dickerson) became Cortland's career rebounding leader during a 27-point, 17-rebound effort as the Red Dragons defeated host Buffalo State, 83-74, in SUNYAC men's basketball action.
