Rams Fall to Cortland at Ithaca

Ithaca, N.Y. - The Farmingdale State men's basketball team fell, 75-54, in a non-conference game versus Cortland on the campus of Ithaca this evening. The Rams are now 1-3 on the year, while the Red Dragons improved to 2-0.

Cortland jumped out to an early 16-6 lead, before a 13-1 Farmingdale State run put the Rams ahead 19-17 with 6:12 remaining in the first half.

Tied 25-25 with 1:52 remaining, a Red Dragons 3-pointer and pair of free-throw's extended their lead to five but Farmingdale State senior guard Justin Bailey (Jamaica, N.Y.) hit a jump shot to close the half with Cortland leading by three, 30-27.

The Red Dragons opened the second half on a 24-3 run to quickly open up a 24-point advantage. Cortland extended their lead to as many as 34 midway through the second half as they earned the 75-54 non-conference win.

The Rams were led by Bailey who had a team-high 13 points and seven rebounds, while freshman guard Trey Kinard (Deer Park, N.Y.) scored 10 points on 4-of-6 shooting. Freshman forward Eriq Williams (Valley Stream, N.Y.) pitched in with nine points and eight boards.

Junior guard Blair Estarfaa (Buffalo, N.Y.) tallied a game-high 14 points after connecting on four 3-pointers for the Red Dragons.

Farmingdale State next will face Ithaca at Cortland on Saturday, November 22nd at 2:00 p.m.
