  • Ripon Clinches Fourth Consecutive Conference Championship

    RIPON, Wis. - Ripon's women's basketball team continued its near-half decade run Tuesday night as they clinched at least a share of the 2022 Midwest Conference Championship with an 80-55 win against Lake Forest College. That marks the Red Hawks' fourth consecutive conference title, which is second only to St. Norbert, who won six from 1984-89. The victory also clinched a berth in the conference tournament for the sixth consecutive season.

  • Ripon Wins Season Opener In Overtime

    EAU CLAIRE, Wis. - Ripon's women's basketball tipped off their 2021-22 season Friday night with a 76-72 win against UW-River Falls at a tournament hosted by UW-Eau Claire. That marks the third consecutive season in which Ripon has won their season opener, while also marking their first-ever win against UW-River Falls in what was just their second meeting on the hardwood.

    Ripon College Senior Maggie Oimoen has been named to the All-Conference First Team, as released by the Midwest Conference office on Tuesday. That makes Oimoen just the fourth player in program history and first in 16 years to earn First Team honors in three consecutive seasons.

    Ripon College Head Coach Lauren Busalacchi has been named Midwest Conference Women's Basketball Coach of the Year, as announced Tuesday by the conference office. This marks the first such award for Busalacchi, who led the Red Hawks to their second consecutive conference championship this season, and first trip to the NCAA Tournament in 10 years.

    RIPON, Wis. - Ripon's women's basketball team defeated Monmouth College 55-48 in Saturday's Midwest Conference Tournament Championship Game to earn an automatic bid to the NCAA Division-III Tournament for the first time in 10 years. The victory improves the Red Hawks' home record to 12-1 this season, while extending their current winning streak to nine games. They enter next weekend's NCAA Tournament having won 16 of their last 17 games, as they have lost just once since December 11.

    RIPON, Wis. - Trailing by seven points to St. Norbert with five minutes remaining in Friday's Midwest Conference semifinal game, the Ripon College women's basketball team didn't panic, erasing that deficit by scoring the game's final 11 points, en route to a 44-40 victory. That win advances the top-seeded Red Hawks to Saturday's MWC Tournament Championship Game where they will battle number two seeded Monmouth College. It also gives Ripon their eighth consecutive victory, which is tied for fourth in program history, while also giving them their most victories since the 2009-10 season, which was the last time the team advanced to the MWC Tournament Championship Game.

This marks the Red Hawks' fourth consecutive trip to the four-team conference tournament, and improves Ripon's conference record to 42-7 during the past three seasons.

    RIPON, Wis. - Ripon's women's basketball team defeated Lawrence 63-51 Saturday afternoon, marking their 24th consecutive victory over the Vikings. More importantly, the win, coupled with Monmouth's loss at Grinnell puts Ripon in sole possession of first place in the Midwest Conference standings with four games remaining in the regular season.

    RIPON, Wis. - Ripon's women's basketball team held Cornell to just 26 percent (14-54) shooting, including 19 percent (4-21) from 3-point range, en route to a 59-36 victory over the Rams. Cornell had just 14 points at halftime, and never scored more than 11 in a quarter against the Midwest Conference's number one ranked scoring defense. Ripon meanwhile shot 43 percent (24-56) from the field and 39 percent (5-13) from 3-point range.

That snaps an 11-game losing streak against the Pointers, and is Ripon's first win against UW-Stevens Point since the 1995-96 season.

    RIPON, Wis. - Ripon's women's basketball team won their second conference game in as many days Saturday afternoon, defeating Illinois College 61-52. The Red Hawks dominated the paint, outscoring IC 42-16 in the lane, while out-rebounding the Lady Blues 43-34, with 17 of their 43 rebounds coming on the offensive end of the floor. That moves Ripon to 2-0 in the conference standings, and improves their conference record during the last two-plus seasons to 31-5 (.861 winning pct.).

    RIPON, Wis. - Entering this season, the Ripon College women's basketball team had seen just eight 1,000 point scorers in the 43-year history of the program. Saturday, they made room for a ninth member of that club as Senior Maggie Oimoen scored her 1,000th point during a 61-52 win over Illinois College.

The Red Hawks finished the game shooting 48 percent (23-48) from the field and 47 percent (8-17) from 3-point range, while also dominating the boards by out-rebounding the Prairie Fire 43-19.
  • Ripon's Season Ends In MWC Semifinals

    RIPON, Wis. - Ripon's women's basketball team lost to Lake Forest 78-75 Friday in the semifinals of the Midwest Conference Tournament. The Red Hawks shot 53 percent (30-57) from the field, including 62 percent (16-26) in the first half, but converted just 48 percent (12-25) of their free throws in the contest. Lake Forest finished the game shooting 49 percent (26-53) from the field and 77 percent (23-30) from the free throw line.

    RIPON, Wis. - Ripon's women's basketball team clinched their first Midwest Conference Championship since 2009 on Saturday, defeating Knox College 66-40 to finish tied atop the MWC standings and earn a share of the title with Cornell College. After a coin flip by the conference commissioner to break the tie, it was also decided that Ripon will be the host for next weekend's MWC Tournament.

    RIPON, Wis. - The Ripon women's basketball team shot 58 percent (21-36) in the first half on Saturday, as they were more than halfway to 100 points at halftime, leading 51-21 at the break, which helped them coast to a 76-49 win against Illinois College. The top rebounding team in the Midwest Conference, Ripon held a 56-39 advantage on the boards, while also outscoring the Lady Blues in the paint by a 48-18 margin.

    JACKSONVILLE, Ill. - Ripon's women's basketball team won their eighth consecutive game Saturday afternoon, defeating Illinois College 74-49, behind a career-high 22 points from senior Emma McDonald, who made 6-of-7 shots from 3-point range. The Red Hawks shot 50 percent (28-56) as a team and 54 percent (7-13) behind the arc, while holding Illinois College to just 29 percent (12-42) shooting, including 17 percent (4-24) in the second half.
