RIPON, Wis. - Entering this season, the Ripon College women's basketball team had seen just eight 1,000 point scorers in the 43-year history of the program. Saturday, they made room for a ninth member of that club as Senior Maggie Oimoen scored her 1,000th point during a 61-52 win over Illinois College.
With 1,005 career points, Oimoen is just 37 shy of passing Heather Schneider (1992-96) for eighth place on Ripon's all-time scoring list. A two-time First Team All-Conference selection, Oimoen has scored at least 250 points in each of the three full seasons she has played.
In addition to her scoring prowess, the Biology and Psychology major from Barneveld, Wis. ranks third in school history for career blocked shots (90). She has recorded four consecutive double-doubles, giving her 13 for her career, which is the sixth-most in program history. Oimoen leads the team this season in scoring (12.7 ppg), rebounding (7.9 rpg), blocked shots (1.7 bpg), and field goal percentage (.467).
