RIPON, Wis. - Ripon's women's basketball team defeated Knox College 67-42 Friday night in what was the conference opener for both teams. The Red Hawks finished the game shooting 48 percent (23-48) from the field and 47 percent (8-17) from 3-point range, while also dominating the boards by out-rebounding the Prairie Fire 43-19.

Knox's only lead of the game came in the opening minute when they took a 2-0 lead on a pair of free throws. Ripon (1-5, 1-0 MWC) then scored the next five points, including the first of six Jesi Nay3-pointers, which gave Ripon a lead that they would never relinquish. The Red Hawks took a slim 14-13 lead into the second quarter, but that lead would expand to 13 points by halftime, as Ripon outscored Knox 15-3 in that period.

Ripon would lead by double digits for the remainder of the game, taking their largest lead of 27 on a free throw by Alyassa Burgess mid-way through the fourth quarter. Knox (3-3, 0-1 MWC) was held to just 33 percent (16-47) shooting in the game, and 18 percent (3-17) from 3-point range.

Nay led the Red Hawks with a career-high 23 points, as her six 3-pointers are tied for third in program history for a single game. Maggie Oimoen added 12 points and 13 rebounds for her third consecutive and 12th career double-double, while adding two blocked shots and a career-high four assists. Oimoen now has 984 career points, which is 16 shy of becoming just the ninth player in program history to reach the 1,000 point plateau. Burgess also chipped in with 10 points, which ties a career-high, to go along with six rebounds (four offensive).

Knox was led by Morgan Potter's 10 points, while Jarrelyn McCall added nine points, five assists, and two steals.

Ripon will be in action again on Saturday when they'll host Illinois College at Weiske Gymnasium. That game will begin at 1 p.m., and can be seen live at https://portal.stretchinternet.com/ripon/.
