RIPON, Wis. - Ripon's women's basketball team led for more than 32 minutes Tuesday night, but saw that lead slip away late against St. Norbert, falling by a score of 60-57 to end the Red Hawks' eight-game winning streak. The game was classified as a non-conference game due to St. Norbert being ineligible for the 2018 Midwest Conference Tournament.

The first quarter proved very competitive, with St. Norbert (6-4) taking an early 5-2 lead, before Ripon (13-6) used a 14-2 run to take a seven-point advantage with two and a half minutes left in the opening period. After Ripon took a three-point lead into the second quarter, the teams traded baskets for much of the next 10 minutes, as Ripon led 27-23 at intermission.

Ripon opened the game up in the third quarter, which saw them outscore St. Norbert 16-8, giving the Red Hawks a 12-point advantage entering the final frame. On this night however, no lead was safe, as St. Norbert methodically cut into that lead. Down by six with two and a half minutes remaining, Sarah Wiseman scored on consecutive possessions for the Green Knights, followed by a 3-pointer by Hayley Winzenried to give SNC their first lead since the first quarter. Ripon had a chance to tie in the final seconds, but a pair of 3-point attempts clanged off the iron.

Ripon was led by Emma McDonald's 14 points, seven rebounds, and four assists. McDonald also made four 3-pointers, giving her 149 in her career, which ranks third in program history, just five shy of the school record. Alyassa Burgess added eight points on four-of-six shooting, while Laurissa Johnson tied a career-high with seven points off the bench.

Wiseman led St. Norbert with 19 points, with 13 coming in the fourth quarter, which saw the Green Knights shoot 77 percent (10-13) from the field. Sarah Neumann and Macie Zurfluh each finished with 12 points.

The first-place Red Hawks will try to rebound on Saturday when they'll return to conference play at Lake Forest. That game is scheduled for 3 p.m. in Lake Forest, Ill., and can be seen live at https://portal.stretchinternet.com/ripon/.
