Men's
Corey Chandler
Chandler averaged 27.0 points, 7.0 rebounds, 5.5 assists and 3.5
steals in two wins. He had game highs of 28 points, 11 rebounds,
seven assists and three steals during a 69-67 victory against
Rutgers-Newark, and he scored 16 of his game-high 26 points during
the second half of a 67-56 win at Kean, adding four assists and
four steals. The wins kept the Pioneers in first place in the NJAC
North Division standings.
Zack Barragan
Barragan scored 27 points on 10-of-15 shooting, including 7-of-9
from three-point range, in the Storm's 68-64 win over Buena Vista
on Jan. 11. He became Simpson's all-time leader in three-point
shooting, eclipsing the total of 171 set by Jason Parkinson from
2003 to 2007.
Chris Astorga
Astorga has scored in double figures in each of his last 11 games,
hitting 20-plus points in the last two, helping VWC to extend its
winning streak to 13 in a row. He averaged 21.0 points and 6.0
rebounds in wins against Randolph and Roanoke, shooting 8-for-12
from three-point range.
Jared Suderley
Suderley averaged 27 points and 10.5 rebounds as the Hawks split
two conference games over the weekend. Against Ithaca, he scored 21
points and grabbed 12 rebounds in a 73-71 loss. He also made 11 of
12 free throws. The next day against Utica, he scored 33 points on
13-for-19 shooting including 4-for-5 from three-point range. He
also grabbed nine rebounds.
Andy Grzesiak-Grimm
Grzesiak-Grimm claimed two double-doubles in two Augsburg wins
during the past week, while shooting 65.2 percent from the field.
In a 57-55 win at St. Olaf, he led the Auggies in both scoring (16)
and rebounding (12). In a 65-61 win at St. Mary's, he claimed his
third straight double-double and fifth of the season with a
season-high 21 points and 10 rebounds. He went 15-for-23 from the
field and 7-for-9 from the line.
Women's
Kayla Waskow
Waskow averaged 23 points and 10.5 rebounds while shooting 71.4
percent from the field as Coe posted a pair of conference victories
during the week. She scored 18 points on 8-of-11 shooting, pulled
down one rebound, and had five assists in an 82-67 victory at
Luther on Jan. 11, then broke Coe's single-game rebounds record
with a 28-point, 20-rebound performance in an 85-67 win over Buena
Vista on Jan. 14. Against the Beavers, Waskow made 12 of 17 shots
from the field while also picking up three assists, two steals, and
one blocked shot.
Jenn Shinall
Shinall averaged 21.5 points, 7.0 rebounds, 2.0 assists, and 2.0
steals per game during the Camels' 2-0 weekend. She connected on 11
of her 24 shots, hitting 9-of-14 from long range, and made 12-of-17
free throw attempts. After posting 13 points and grabbing nine
rebounds in a 72-59 victory over Middlebury, Shinall exploded for a
career-high 30 points during an 81-72 victory over Williams, as she
made 6-of-8 from three-point range and 10-of-12 from the foul
line.
Elisabeth Potts
Potts recorded the second double-double of her carer in a key
conference win against Millikin with 20 points and 10 rebounds. Her
18-point effort against North Central included four three-pointers
helping Wheaton tie the school's single-game record for
three-pointers (14) in the win. She shot 7-for-12 from three-point
range for the week.
April Smith
Smith averaged 25.0 points and 14.0 rebounds in two contests. She
posted 16 points, two assists, a pair of steals and a game-best 12
rebounds during a 59-54 win against Rutgers-Newark on Jan. 11, and
scored a career-high 34 points, adding 16 rebounds and three blocks
for her 12th double-double of the season Jan. 14 at Kean. She shot
20-for-31 from the floor and 10-for-11 from the line.
Alexandra Blair
Blair averaged a double-double as the Greyhounds went 2-1, winning
both conference games. She had a high of 20 points in a
non-conference, two-point loss to Eastern. She brought down a high
of 17 rebounds against Merchant Marine to go with 12 points for her
fifth double-double of the season and 12th of her career. On the
week, she averaged 16.7 points, 10.3 boards and 2.7 blocks per game
while shooting 61-percent from the field for the week. She shot
22-for-36 from the floor.
