Men's
Vinny DeLucia
DeLucia averaged 26.5 points per game for Mass-Boston. He shot
52.9% from the field (18-for-34) and 9-for-18 from three-point
range, while going 8-for-12 from the line. He scored a career-high
29 points on 10-of-16 shooting against Southern Maine, which
included six three-pointers. He also added four assists and two
steals to his line in 34 minutes. He added a game-high 24 points at
Plymouth State on 8-of-18 shooting, including three three-pointers.
He recorded four more assists.
DaQuan Brooks
Brooks had yet another week to remember, with 42.5 points per game
in a 2-0 week. He hit on 43.4 percent (26-for-60) of his attempts
from the field to score at least 37 points in each conference
contest. On Feb. 7, Brooks poured in a career-high 48 points,
including five three-pointers, to guide the Colonials past the
Warriors. He handed out the game-winning assist as time expired in
overtime to give Western a key conference victory. Four days later,
Brooks struggled from beyond the arc but finished with 37 points
and four rebounds to help the Colonials edge the Owls in overtime.
He registered 21 points over the final 25 minutes.
Kyle Schleigh
Schleigh averaged 26.5 points and 9.0 rebounds per game as he led
the Comets to a pair of ASC East wins and the program's fourth
consecutive division title. The ASC East Freshman of the Year last
season, Schleigh has helped the Comets to a 10-0 mark against ASC
East teams. In a 94-65 blowout of Louisiana College, Schleigh
scored 19 of his game-high 24 points in the first half, hitting
5-of-5 three-pointers in the half.
Ray Askew
Askew led the Falcons with 83 points in the 2-0 week as Albertus
Magnus improved to 22-1. He scored a career-high 52 to lead the
Falcons in a come-from-behind 76-73 win at Lasell. His 52 and 10
rebounds on Saturday marked his 10th double-double of the season,
while it was the eighth game of 30 or more points this season.
Askew had a 31-point and seven-rebound performance at Trinity
(Conn.) on Feb. 7 in non-league action as well. On the week, he
shot 47.3 percent from the floor and 69.9 percent from the charity
stripe.
Mike Callaghan
Callaghan averaged 20.0 points, 11.5 rebounds, and three assists
per game during a 2-0 road weekend to close out the NESCAC
schedule. He made 15 of 33 attempts from the floor (.455) was
9-for-11 from the line. At Bowdoin, Callaghan posted career-highs
in points and rebounds, scoring 25 and grabbing 15 boards in a
74-61 win. The next afternoon at Colby, Callaghan netted 15 points,
pulled down eight rebounds, and dished the ball four times in a
76-70 decision that gave Wesleyan a program record for wins with
its 19th.
Women's
Devin Beasley
Beasley helped lead the Saints to a 2-0 record on the road,
averaging 17.0 points, 3.0 rebounds per game in only 21.0 minutes
per game. She recorded nine assists against just two turnovers. In
a win at Westminster (Pa.) she had a career-high 18 points, pulled
down five rebounds, while dishing out six assists and recording two
steals. In the win at against Waynesburg she had 16 points, two
assists and a steal in only 15 minutes.
Sarah Seipp
Seipp has scored double figures in 15 consecutive games, including
23 points and 6.5 rebounds per game in a 2-0 week for the Marlins.
She tied her collegiate high with 27 points at Eastern Mennonite as
VWC pinned the first home court loss in 14 games on the regionally
ranked Royals. She shot 14-for-30 from the floor, 7-for-17 from
beyond the arc and 11-for-13 from the line.
Paige Jensen
Jensen scored a season-high 24 points, going 10-for-13 to help the
Boxers to a season-best 53 percent from the field in an 82-70 loss
to Whitman. Jensen followed with her sixth double-double of the
season, with 22 points, 15 rebounds with four assists and four
steals, leading the Boxers in all four categories in a 78-70 win
against Whitworth.
Jenn Escobido
Escobido led Ithaca to two lopsided wins, recording a pair of
double-doubles while playing just 58 total minutes. Friday's 21
points were a career-high and Saturday's 20 points and 15 rebounds
were both one short of her career-best totals. Escobido helped the
Bombers record their 13th 20-win season (including nine times in 13
years) and hold opponents under 40 points for the ninth time this
season.
Kassie Robinson
Robinson averaged 21 points, 10.5 rebounds and three blocked shots
in a 2-0 week for UW-La Crosse. She shot 14-for-28 from the floor
and 14-for-22 from the foul line.
