Women's Basketball Wins NJAC Title for First Time in 51-Year Program HistoryApril 03, 2021MONTCLAIR, N.J. — To say that the New Jersey City University women's basketball program has had a monumental turnaround over the last few seasons would be an understatement. Under the guidance of third-year head coach Pat Devaney, Sr. '12, the Gothic Knights went from 0-21 in 2017-18 (the season before he took over) to New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) Champions for the first time in the program's 51-year history! NJCU made the NJAC Tournament for the first time since 1988-89 in 2019-20 and won its first-ever postseason tournament game. And this season, the Gothic Knights put a cap on that turnaround by winning the NJAC Championship Game 64-60 over top-seeded Montclair State University today, Saturday, April 3.

The third-seeded Gothic Knights defeated second-seeded The College of New Jersey on the road on Friday evening, March 12, in the New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) Tournament semifinal by a score of 73-63. NJCU outscored TCNJ 56-39 in the final three quarters to earn a berth to the program's first-ever NJAC Championship game in its 51-year history.
