Women’s Basketball Defeated by Nazareth 87-53

KEUKA PARK, N.Y. — The Keuka College Women's Basketball team lost on Saturday 87-53 to Nazareth College in an Empire 8 matchup.

Keuka College (0-4, 0-4 E8) was led by a career-high 16 points with Amelia Poole (Bloomfield, N.Y. / Bloomfield). Meaghan McGwin (Rochester, N.Y. / Hilton) added 13 points and Killian Mahoney (Canandaigua, N.Y. / Canandaigua Academy) scored 12 for the Wolves.

Nazareth College 87 at Keuka College 53

The Golden Flyers got out to a fast start over the Wolves. Nazareth scored the first 13 points of the game for the early lead. Amelia Poole got a steal on the defensive end and hit Killian Mahoney on the break for the three from the wing as the Wolves got on the board six minutes into the game. Nazareth College would lead 23-8 after the first quarter.

In the second, the Wolves would fight to keep the game within reach. Midway through the quarter, Keuka would cut the lead down to 15 at 31-16, as Kara Reese (Odessa, N.Y. / Odessa-Montour) used the backboard from the wing for the long two-point basket. That would be as close as the Wolves would make it in the quarter however. Amelia Poole hit three threes in the quarter, but the Wolves trailed 42-24 at the half.

Killian Mahoney hit consecutive threes for the Wolves and Meagan McGwin followed with a three of her own as the Wolves cut the deficit to 16 at 51-35. But Nazareth responded, outscoring Keuka 21-2 over the final 6:22 of the third to lead 72-37.

Keuka College outscored Nazareth 16-15 in the final quarter with Amelia Poole netting seven for the Wolves, but the Golden Flyers would defeat Keuka 87-53.
