CHICAGO - The Illinois Wesleyan University men's basketball team outlasted the University of Chicago in overtime Tuesday night, Dec. 20, in non-conference action at the Ratner Athletic Center. The Titans (6-4) downed the Maroons (7-4), 67-63, as IWU's Ron Rose secured career win No. 300.
BLOOMINGTON, Ill. - A buzzer-beating three-pointer was off the mark as the Illinois Wesleyan University men's basketball team held on for an 87-85 College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin win over North Central College Saturday night, Dec. 10, inside the Shirk Center. With the win, the Titans remain perfect in CCIW play at 3-0 (5-3 overall). NCC moved to 4-5 on the year and 1-2 in league play.
Opening night in the WIAC brought road victories for No. 4 UW-La Crosse and No. 15 UW-Oshkosh while Illinois Wesleyan started CCIW play with a win at No. 11 Elmhurst. On the women's side, No. 1 Hope fended off archrival No. 15 Calvin and UW-Platteville rolled at No. 19 UW-Oshkosh.
No. 1 Randolph-Macon outlasted Hood in triple overtime while No. 11 Rochester used a three-point barrage to send No. 18 Trinity (Texas) back to San Antonio with a loss. Plus, No. 21 Illinois Wesleyan held off Yeshiva and the NESCAC enjoyed its opening weekend.
