The victory improved the Stormy Petrels to 4-1 on the season and bumped them up into sole possession of first place in the league. -

Justin Day earns SAA men's basketball newcomer honors, four Stormy Petrels on All-SAA teams
March 02, 2020The Oglethorpe men's basketball teams saw four players earn All-SAA spots Monday, as voted by the league's coaches. In addition, freshman guard Justin Day garnered SAA Newcomer of the Year honors, marking the first time that a member of the squad has taken the honor since 2015. Meanwhile, junior guard Dimetri Chambers notched an All-SAA first team spot while three Stormy Petrels took home All-SAA honorable mention: junior forward Josh Cammon, junior guard Lane Foster and sophomore guard Carlos Sone. -
Men's basketball sees season come to close in 93-68 SAA Tournament loss to Millsaps
February 23, 2020The Oglethorpe men's basketball team saw their season come to a close Sunday, as the fourth-seeded Stormy Petrels fell to an outstanding effort from fifth-seeded Millsaps 93-68 in the first round of the SAA Tournament at Dorough Field House. The loss ended Oglethorpe's season at 14-12 overall. -
Oglethorpe falls in final regular season game
February 15, 2020The Oglethorpe men's basketball team dropped their final game of the regular season Saturday in Mount Berry, falling to the homestanding Berry Vikings 78-66 to fall into a third-place tie in the SAA. The Stormy Petrels trailed much of the game and never really could gain a foothold in the contest. They fell to 14-11 overall and 8-6 in league play to close the regular season. -
Stormy Petrels stun No. 19 Centre at buzzer, move to tie for second in league
February 09, 2020The Oglethorpe men's basketball team picked up its biggest win of the season so far Sunday afternoon, knocking off the No. 19 Centre Colonels 81-79 at Dorough Field House on a buzzer-beating layup by freshman guard Justin Day. The win improved the Stormy Petrels to 14-10 overall and 8-5 in SAA play, moving them into a second-place tie with Hendrix with a single game left to play. -
Oglethorpe falls to Sewanee on final shot
February 07, 2020The Oglethorpe men's basketball team appeared to have pulled out another tight win over the visiting Sewanee Tigers Friday night at Dorough Field House, but Sewanee had other ideas, sinking a 3-pointer with 0.3 seconds left to defeat the Stormy Petrels 79-78. The loss dropped Oglethorpe to a third-place tie in the SAA as they fell to 7-5 in league play and 13-10 overall. -
Stormy Petrels pull away from Rhodes in second half, take sole possession of third place in SAA
February 02, 2020The Oglethorpe men's basketball team led the majority of the game Sunday en route to an 83-65 rout of the homestanding Rhodes Lynx. The Stormy Petrels outscored the home side 51-37 in the second half, turning what had been a 4-point game at halftime into an easy win for the visitors. It improved Oglethorpe to 13-9 overall and 7-4 in SAA play, giving then sole possession of third place after fourth-place Berry lost at Hendrix Sunday. -

January 31, 2020The Oglethorpe men's basketball team fought hard Friday night in a battle for second place in the SAA, but fell to the homestanding Hendrix Warriors 75-71 in Conway, Arkansas. The result dropped the team to 12-9 overall and 6-4 in SAA play, moving them into a third-place tie with Berry with four games to play in the regular season. -

January 19, 2020The Oglethorpe men's basketball team won their second game of the weekend and their eighth out of their last 10 Sunday afternoon at Dorough Field House, besting the Birmingham-Southern Panthers 72-67 in a tight game throughout, With the win, the Stormy Petrels improved to 11-7 on the season overall and 5-2 in SAA play, putting them in a second-place tie with Hendrix at just a game back of first-place Centre. -
Stormy Petrels defeat Millsaps 114-107 in epic triple-overtime game
January 17, 2020The Oglethorpe men's basketball team emerged victorious Friday night from one of the craziest games in the annals of Oglethorpe basketball, knocking off the Millsaps Majors 114-107 in the first triple overtime contest of the program's modern history. They fell behind 96-86 with just 1:40 left in the second overtime, but outscored their opponent 11-1 over the rest of the period to send the game to the third extra stanza on an incredible off-balance 3-pointer that junior guard Dimetri Chambers banked in with less than 2 seconds left. The Stormy Petrels outplayed Millsaps in the third overtime, outscoring them 17-10 and pulling away to improve to 10-7 on the season overall and 4-2 in SAA play. -
Centre runs past Oglethorpe in second half
January 12, 2020The Oglethorpe men's basketball team hung with the homestanding Centre Colonels for much of the contest Sunday afternoon in Danville, Kentucky, but the home side pulled away late for an 81-63 victory. The loss dropped the Stormy Petrels to 9-7 on the season overall and 3-2 in SAA play, pushing them into a three-way tie for third place in the league. -

Stormy Petrels outlast St. Joseph's 68-63 in first game of Holiday Inn Express Classic
December 29, 2019The Oglethorpe men's basketball team had to hang on Sunday afternoon on the first day of the Holiday Inn Express Classic, as the visiting Bears of St. Joseph's-Brooklyn came back from a 17-point deficit to take the lead midway through the first half. A couple of big baskets down the stretch secured the 68-63 victory for the Stormy Petrels, though, improving the team to 6-5 and putting them above .500 for the first time since their buzzer-beating win over Maryville (Tennessee) on Nov. 30. The win served as the third straight for the Petrels, who haven't lost since returning from their 2-week break for final exams on Dec. 20. -
Stormy Petrels defeat Merchant Marine 63-54, claim West Palm Beach Tournament title
December 21, 2019The Oglethorpe men's basketball won the West Palm Beach Tournament championship Saturday at Oxbridge Academy in West Palm Beach, Florida, knocking off the Merchant Marine Mariners 63-54 to claim the title. The Stormy Petrels ran out to a 39-20 lead at halftime and held off the Mariners in the second half to clinch the 9-point win. The Petrels improved to 5-5 on the season. -

December 20, 2019The Oglethorpe men's basketball team played a complete game Friday evening against Goucher at the West Palm Beach Tournament in Florida, blowing out the Gophers 91-63 and advancing to the tournament's championship game against Merchant Marine at 3 p.m. Saturday in Oxbridge Gymnasium. The Stormy Petrels improved to 4-5 with the win, snapping a three-game losing streak in the process. -
