Men’s Basketball Rallies in Second Half but Falls to St. Norbert in NCAA Tournament Opener
March 07, 2025LA CROSSE – The Carthage College men's basketball team faced St. Norbert in the first round of the NCAA Division III Tournament. Despite an early deficit, the Firebirds mounted a strong second-half comeback, cutting the lead to one, but the Green Knights held on for a 92-89 victory, bringing Carthage's 2024-25 season to a close. -

Early birds catch the conference wins

February 13, 2016The Carthage College men's basketball team (9-15, 3-10 College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin) closed out its 2016 home schedule on Saturday, Feb. 13 with a 76-51 win over Wheaton College (Ill., 5-19, 1-12 CCIW) at Tarble Arena in Kenosha, Wis. The win snapped a five-game losing streak for the Red Men, who had also lost nine of their last 10 games. -

February 10, 2016After three-straight road games, the Carthage College men's basketball team (8-14, 2-9 College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin) returned home on Wednesday, Feb. 10 but lost to No. 18 North Central College (17-6, 10-2 CCIW), 95-77, at Tarble Arena in Kenosha, Wis. The Cardinals remain tied for second place in the league, while the Red Men have lost 10 of their last 11 games. -

Carver Physical Education Center in Rock Island, Ill. The Vikings, who are eyeing their 15th league title, as well as the home court for the Feb. 26-27 CCIW Men’s Basketball Tournament, have won nine in a row. The Red Men have lost nine of their last 10 games. -

Carthage Faces Two Top-10 Teams Again This Week

For the second time in a month, the Carthage College men’s basketball team (8-12, 2-7 College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin) faces two top-10 teams this week. Both on the road. Carthage travels to Elmhurst, Ill., on Wednesday, Feb. 3 to play No. 9 Elmhurst College (17-3, 7-2 CCIW) in a 7 p.m. game at R.A. Faganel Hall. This coming Saturday, the Red Men travel to Rock Island, Ill., to take on No. 2 Augustana College (Ill., currently 19-1, 8-1 CCIW) in a 7 p.m. contest at the Roy J. Carver Physical Education Center. -

January 23, 2016The Carthage College men's basketball team (8-10, 2-5 College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin) erased a 23-point first-half deficit on Saturday, Jan. 23 in an 85-79 win over Wheaton College (Ill., 5-13, 1-6 CCIW) at King Arena in Wheaton, Ill. The win over the Thunder snapped a five-game Red Men losing streak. -
