Carthage and North Park needed two overtimes to decide their CCIW clash, and Mount Union and Muskingum needed three to finish their OAC battle. Meanwhile Rosemont only needed one extra period to upset No. 15 Neumann.

Carthage won its third straight overtime contest and pulled even with No. 25 North Park in the CCIW standings by beating the Vikings 91-88 in double overtime. Carthage (15-6, 8-4 CCIW) scored seven consecutive points to take a 78-75 lead with 1:17 remaining in the first overtime before Colin Lake drained a three-pointer for North Park (15-6, 8-4 CCIW) to force a second overtime. In double overtime Kienan Baltimore hit a jumpshot with 34 seconds left to put the Red Men ahead by two and the Vikings split a pair of free throws on their ensuing possession. Brad Kruse hit both free throws on Carthage's next possession and Jordan Robinson's attempt to force a third overtime was off the mark.

Six Carthage players scored double figures led by Mike Stevenson with 22 points. Jordan Robinson scored 24 points for North Park but shot 1-for-8 from three. The loss will likely push North Park out of the Top 25 and the regional rankings where the Vikings were slotted seventh of eight teams entering the day.

Both teams sit 2.5 games behind No. 20 Augustana which defeated North Central (Ill.) 72-66. That set of Vikings closes with road games at Carroll, North Park and Illinois Wesleyan. CCIW standings

Mount Union outlasted Muskingum 117-110 in triple-overtime and bolstered its chances of hosting a game in the OAC playoffs. Muskingum trailed 101-98 with seven seconds left in double overtime when Marcus Dempsey was fouled and went to the free throw line for the Muskies. He made the first free throw and missed the second, but teammate Joshua Glass grabbed the offensive rebound and scored with one second left to force a third overtime. In that period DeAllen Jackson's three keyed a 7-0 Mount Union run to put the game out of reach.

Jackson racked up 36 points and 10 rebounds in 47 minutes for Mount Union (13-9, 8-7 OAC). Dempsey tallied 38 points in 51 minutes for Muskingum (12-10, 6-9 OAC). Conference co-leaders Marietta and Ohio Northern each won on Wednesday night and remained a game in front of John Carroll in the OAC standings. The Pioneers also sit atop the Great Lakes regional rankings.

Rosemont erased a 15-point second half deficit and ended No. 15 Neumann's 14-game conference winning streak by beating the Knights 99-96 in overtime. Jamier Hughes set a new program single-game record with 34 points for the Ravens (12-10, 10-5 CSAC) who have wins over Neumann and Cabrini in their last three games. Neumann's lead on Cabrini in the CSAC standings slipped to one game with three to play, including a home tilt with the Cavaliers next Wednesday.

Neumann wasn't the only team to start the day with a No. 1 spot in the first set of regional rankings and end it with a loss. No. 22 Guilford, which was picked first in the South, got hammered on the road by Roanoke, 72-46. The Maroons hit a school-record 18 three-pointers, including six for John Fitchett, and knocked the Quakers out of their first place tie with Randolph-Macon. ODAC standings

No. 21 Hope survived a scare at home from Trine before beating the Thunder 83-76 in overtime. The Flying Dutch's victory, coupled with Calvin's 68-66 loss to Alma, secures Hope's 39th MIAA men's basketball title. No. 18 UW-Whitewater kept its hopes of a WIAC crown alive by edging UW-Stevens Point 56-55. The Warhawks go to No. 7 UW-River Falls on Saturday with the Falcons holding a two-game lead in the standings. River Falls throttled UW-Stout 92-51 and can wrap up the WIAC title with a win on Saturday. WIAC standings

Outside the Top 25, MIT edged WPI 68-66 in the battle of the NEWMAC's Engineers. Tim Butala scored 20 points for MIT (17-5, 9-2 NEWMAC), which is slotted ninth behind a glut of NESCAC teams in the first Northeast regional rankings.

Southern Vermont beat Becker for the second time in three days to secure a home game in the NECC playoffs and claim the tiebreaker advantage over the Hawks. TCNJ defeated William Paterson 90-85 to stay one game ahead of New Jersey City and one game behind Ramapo in the NJAC standings. The top two seeds receive byes in the NJAC tournament.

Widener continued its push for a conference playoff birth with a 93-78 win over Messiah. The Pride (13-9, 7-6) and Alvernia currently hold the final two playoff spots with Hood and Messiah sitting one game back in the always tight MAC Commonwealth standings.
