Springfield's Jake Ross was much better than okay in the Pride's double-overtime victory while Carthage upended No. 8 Elmhurst and No. 12 UW-Platteville stayed atop the WIAC. In women's action No. 10 Wartburg surged and No. 24 Albright stumbled.

Jake Ross put together one of the best performances in all of college basketball this season as he produced 55 points, 21 rebounds, and five steals to power No. 23 Springfield to a 105-99 home win vs. Coast Guard. The only player in the NCAA to have at least 50 points and 20 rebounds in a game this year, Ross hit 20 of his 41 shots and was 5-for-10 from beyond the arc. Ross' 55 points is the second highest total of the season thus far behind Logan Dorethy who scored 56 for MacMurry against Greenville.

Justin Kane scored 35 for Coast Guard, including nine points in the final 40 seconds of regulation to force overtime. The Pride improved to 17-3, 8-1 in NEWMAC play, while the Bears slipped to 7-12, 2-7.

Carthage dealt No. 8 Elmhurst its second loss in three games as the Red Men escaped R.A. Faganel Hall with an 81-77 win. Preston Laketa hit a 3-pointer with 1:15 left in the game to give Carthage six-point lead. The Bluejays got as close as one with 49 seconds left, and had a chance to take the lead after a turnover by Kienan Baltimore, but Jake Rhode missed a jumper and Derek Dotlich missed a 3 with six seconds left. Carthage (13-7, 5-6 CCIW) had led by as many as seven points on two separate occasions in the second half before the Bluejays rallied, tying the game at 54 on a 3-pointer by Jay Militello.
