Women's
Brandi Vallely
Vallely averaged 12.5 points, 10.8 assists and 7.3 rebounds to lead Muhlenberg to a 4-0 start. She was named MVP of the Scotty Wood Tournament after tying the Division III career record with her sixth triple-double (18 points, 10 rebounds, 11 assists) in the championship game vs. Lycoming. In the Mules' wins against 3-1 Moravian and 4-1 Lycoming, she averaged 19.5 points, 12.5 assists and 8.0 rebounds. Vallely's 43 assists came against only 6 turnovers in the four games.
Makayla Filiere
Sophomore guard Makayla Filiere led the Tartans to five wins to start the season while averaging 20.2 points and 5.2 rebounds, and shooting 54.2% from the floor. The sophomore closed the week with three-straight 20-plus point efforts, finishing with a career-best 24 points points in a 76-57 win on a neutral court against Denison on Sunday. Filiere was named to the Marietta College Jim Meagle Turkey Shoot All-Tournament team.
Alexandra Leslie
Leslie was named to the all-tournament team as Rochester won its own Chuck Resler Tournament, beating Capital, 71-55, and No. 5 Thomas More, 61-58. She had 12 of her 20 points in the fourth quarter when UR rallied from an 14-point deficit. In the opening round win over Capital, she tied the single-game Rochester record with seven blocked shots.
Olivia Shaw
Shaw was named MVP of the Cardinal Classic at Plattsburgh State as UNE opened the season 4-1. She averaged 18.5 points, 10 rebounds, 2 assists and 3.5 blocks per game to go along with 50% shooting.
Hannah Spaulding
Spaulding led a comeback win over George Fox on Sunday as she collected 23 points, seven boards and four blocks. UST rallied from a 37-32 halftime deficit and won 65-57, holding George Fox to 20 second-half points. The first-year starter is averaging 21 points and nine rebounds in three games this season.
Men's
Ricky Samuelson
Samuelson was named the Will Landry Memorial MVP at Wheaton's season-opening Lee Pfund Classic as he averaged 31.5 PPG for the tournament, shooting 84.6% (22-of-26) from the field including 91.7% (11-of-12) from three-point range in wins over DePauw and Baldwin Wallace. He scored 33 points, with five three-pointers against Calvin and was named the first CCIW Men's Basketball Player of the Week for the 2017-18 season.
Keith Brown
Brown, the CCC Player of the Week, averaged 32.7 points per game. Brown scored 38 points (13-of-26 FG, 2-of-2 FT, 10-of-19 3FG), six rebounds, two steals and a block in Endicott's opening win against Regis. Against No. 7 Babson, he scored 45 points (15-of-25 FG, 5-of-5 FT, 10-of-15 3FG), just two short of the Endicott single-game record, as the Gulls defeated the defending National Champions 90-80. He also scored 15 points in a loss to No. 5 Middlebury.
Seth Clark
Clark was named NCAC Player of Week for week as he scored a career-high 34 points on 13-for-19 shooting, including 6-of-11 from 3-point range, and dished out 6 assists in an opening win over Trine. For the week, Clark averaged 26 points, seven rebounds, and six assists to go along with 62% shooting as Ohio Wesleyan opened 4-0.
Ryan Boll
Playing without four injured teammates expected to start or be in the team's top eight, Boll averaged 28.5 points, 13 rebounds and 4.0 assists while playing 81 of 85 minutes in the Tommies' two games at the Great Lakes Invitational, including 39 points, 11 rebounds, six assists, and no turnovers in 43 minutes of an overtime loss to No. 13 Marietta.
Andy Orr
Orr led Lebanon Valley to a 4-1 start and is averaging a double-double on better than 50 percent shooting from the floor through five games. The senior is putting up 20.2 points, 12 rebounds, and two blocks per contest to go along with a 53.2 field goal percentage and 72.9 free throw percentage. The versatile big man has posted three double-doubles through his first five outings, with his most impressive performance coming in LVC's home opener during which he netted 23 points, grabbed 15 rebounds, blocked two shots, and added a pair of assists in just 16 minutes of action. For his efforts, Orr was named the MAC Commonwealth's first men's basketball player of the week.
