Men's
Ricky Allen
Allen nearly averaged a triple-double (19.5 points, 10.0 assists,
9.0 rebounds) during a 1-1 week. He scored 23 points, grabbing 12
rebounds and dishing out nine assists vs. Howard Payne, as well as
16 points and 11 assists in a triple-overtime loss against Sul Ross
State. Allen shot 7-for-15 from 3-point range.
Jack Taylor
Taylor averaged 34.5 points, including a game-high 40 points with
the help of nine 3-pointers in a win over Knox. He followed that up
with a game-high 29 points, which was aided by an 8-of-15
performance from 3-point range, and four assists in a win over
Beloit. In 31 games since transferring from UW-La Crosse, Taylor
has scored 1,046 points.
Julian Strickland
Julian averaged 29.0 points per game, including the eighth
40-point game in Rose-Hulman history, to help the Fightin'
Engineers finish 2-0 on the road last week. Strickland scored 41
points with seven rebounds and four assists in an 85-65 win at
Manchester, after scoring 17 points with seven rebounds and three
assists in a 65-54 win at Earlham. The 41 points marked a
career-high for Strickland and the first 40-point game at
Rose-Hulman since 1999.
Dillon Stith
Stith set Saint Vincent's single-game scoring record with 50
points in a 124-121 quadruple overtime loss at Thiel on Feb. 5. His
50-point effort is the highest in Division III this season by a
non-Grinnell player and the second-best total against a Division
III opponent. In a 68-52 victory at Grove City, Stith totaled 15
points and 10 rebounds. He averaged 32.5 points and 14.0 rebounds
per game last week while shooting a 45.5 percent (15-of-33) clip
from the field and 76.2 percent (32-of-42) from the line.
Victor Smith
Smith powered Rhode Island College to an overtime victory over
Keene State, scoring a season-high 22 points and pulling in eight
rebounds. The junior from Providence, R.I. made 10 field
goals to shot 66.7 percent for the contest. He was also a force on
the defensive end of the court with a season-high five blocks.
Women's
Lauren Avant
Avant scored a game high 26 points, grabbed eight rebounds and
dished out five assists in a win vs. the conference's second-place
team, Millsaps. She again led the way with 30 points and 10
rebounds in a 75-57 win over Birmingham-Southern. Avant shot 47.6
percent from the floor and 41.7 percent from 3-point range.
Sam Perez
Perez set two career highs with 25 points on Friday, followed by 27
on Sunday. She shot 22-for-33 from from the field (66 percent),
finishing with 26.0 points and 3.5 rebounds per game.
Kayla Johnson
Johnson scored a career-high 31 points in Whitworth's win at Puget
Sound on Friday. She added 21 points in a win at Pacific Lutheran
the following day. She shot 65.7 percent from the floor, 2-for-3
from 3-point range and averaged 4.5 rebounds.
Melissa Tobie
Tobie averaged 25.5 points, 11.0 rebounds and 2.5 blocked shots
per game as the Red Hawks clinched a first-round bye in the NJAC
tournament. Tobie scored 17 of her 19 points in the second half
helping MSU overcome a nine-point halftime deficit in a 69-59 win
over Ramapo. Tobie, who had a double-double in the second half,
scored five points during an 11-0 run that put the Red Hawks in
front for good. Three days later, she tied her career scoring 32
points in an 86-64 win on the road at Richard Stockton.
Kiley Shoemaker
Shoemaker powered Wheaton's offense averaging 21.5 points and 13.5
rebounds per game, as well as 5.0 blocks. She shot 56.0 percent
from the floor and 14-for-16 from the line. Against Coast Guard,
Shoemaker poured in 25 points including a 13-for-14 showing at the
free throw line and also hauled in 16 rebounds, both
game-highs.
