Men's
Kyle McAndrews
McAndrews averaged 30.0 points on 67.7 percent shooting to lead
Pomona-Pitzer to a 2-0 week. He had 32 points on 12-for-18 shooting
in a 90-85 double-overtime win over Chapman and followed with 28 on
9-for-13 shooting in an 83-74 road win over Whittier. In the
Chapman game, he had five points in the final 35 seconds of
regulation on a 12-foot runner and a 3-pointer to help force
overtime. In the second OT, he had seven points, including baskets
on two straight possessions. Against Whittier, he had 17 of his 28
in the second half, while shooting 8-8 at the foul line. He
averaged 3.0 assists per game.
Kevin Agnew
Agnew averaged 32.5 points and 2.5 assists per game in two
contests last week. He scored 34 at Elizabethtown, then had 31 at
Stevenson while shooting 50 percent for the week, 39 percent from
3-point range, and 83 percent at the line. Agnew is only the fifth
player in program history - and first since all-time scoring leader
Andy Panko in 1996-97 - to score 30-plus points in three
consecutive games.
Jared Carithers
Carithers averaged 28.0 poinst per game in a 2-0 week for
Shenandoah, with 24 points in a non-conference win at Penn
State-Altoon and 32 points in a conference win at Roanoke. He shot
20-for-38 from the floor for the week (52.6 percent), 10-for-20
from 3-point range and 6-for-7 from the line. He also averaged 4.5
rebounds.
Daniel Zitani
Zitani averaged 27.5 points and 10 rebounds per game in two
contests. He registered his fifth double-double of the season on
Saturday against George Fox, scoring 30 points to go along with 11
rebounds. He just missed a double-double at Willamette, scoring 25
to go along with nine rebounds.
Dan Kornbaum
Kornbaum averaged 23.5 points and 8.0 rebounds per game in two
Auggie wins, an 86-71 win at Hamline and a 69-42 win over
Macalester. In the process, Kornbaum reached the 1,000-point
plateau for his collegiate career. Against Hamline, Kornbaum scored
25 points on 10-of-13 shooting from the field, adding nine rebounds
and a blocked shot. Against Macalester, he scored 22 points on
9-of-12 shooting from the field, with seven rebounds and three
blocked shots.
Women's
Erin McNamara
McNamara led Southern Maine to a 2-0 record, averaging 23.0 points
and 5.5 assists per game. She shot 47.1 percent (15-for-34) from
the field, including 50 percent (8-for-16) from behind the 3-point
arc. McNamara set a career-high in points with 29 at Husson on Jan.
7, while also distributing five assists in the victory. Four days
later, she scored 17 points and dished out six assists as Southern
Maine raced past Little East rival Mass-Dartmouth.
Kenzie Vander Molen
Scored a career-high 29 points (10 more than her previous best) in
a come-from-behind win over Luther. The Dutch trailed by as much as
17 with 1:54 remaining in the first half. Vander Molen scored five
points in a 19-second span to pull Central within two points at
75-73, the score when the eventual game-winning 3-pointer was
scored. She also played the final 14:47 with four personal fouls.
She averaged 24.0 points for the week, shooting 7-for-15 from
3-point range.
Emily Grabiak
Grabiak averaged 23.5 points, 6.5 rebounds, 6.0 steals, and 3.5
assists per game in a 2-0 week fro Catholic. She scored a
career-high 26 points, pulled down six rebounds and dished out four
assists in an 84-72 win over Gwynedd Mercy. She added five steals,
including the 200th of her career. Grabiak followed that with a
strong showing at Merchant Marine, shooting 52.9 percent from the
floor en route to 21 points, seven rebounds, three assists and a
career-high seven steals.
Christina Marquette
Marquette averaged 21 points and 15 rebounds per game in a 2-0 week
for Oberlin. Her 20-rebound, 17-point performance helped Oberlin
defeat Kenyon, 54-50, for the first time since 2003. She followed
with a 25-point, 10-rebound effort in a 60-59 win over Hiram.
Jasmine Brandon
Brandon posted her Division III-leading second 40-plus point game,
scoring 42 points in the Blue Angels' matchup with Pine Manor. The
center shot nearly 70% (69.6% - 16-23) from the field and 81.8%
(9-11) from the line to become the first DIII player this season to
eclipse the 40 point barrier twice. She added a game-high 14
rebounds to record her seventh double-double of the season.
