Women's
Faith Welch
Welch started her career with 15.7 points and 5.7 assists as
Brockport State opened the season 3-0. She added 4.7 rebounds and
went 5-for-10 from 3-point range and 18-for-23 from the line.
Tyler Compton
Compton led the Tornados to a pair of victories. The 5-4 point
guard scored 22 and led CTX to a come-from-behind 70-63 win over
Schreiner on Nov. 15. A week later, Compton dropped 30 in an 84-63
victory vs. Southwestern. She shot 73.3 percent (22-of-30) from the
floor and 70 percent (7-of-10) from the charity stripe. In addition
to averaging 26 points per game, Compton averaged 4.5 assists and
3.5 steals.
Lauren Avant
Avant scored 28.5 points and added 4.8 steals per game in helping
Rhodes to a 4-0 start. She hit on 58 percent of her shots from the
field and was 43-for-57 from the foul line. She had 5.5 rebounds
and 3.2 assists per game as well.
Sydney Moss
Moss recorded double-doubles in the Saints' first three games,
averaging 23 points and 10.7 rebounds in a 3-0 start to the season.
She had 19 points and 12 boards against Wittenberg, 24 points and
10 rebounds against Wilmington and 26 points and 10 rebounds
against Capital. Moss is shooting 50.9 percent from the field,
including 6-for-14 (42.9 percent) from behind the arc.
Stefanie Lang
Lang scored a school-record 43 points and grabbed 15 rebounds in a
91-80 win over Kenyon and followed that performance with 28 points
and a school-record 27 rebounds in an 81-66 win over Muskingum. She
shot 70 percent from the floor, including going 3-for-3 on 3-point
attempts.
Men's
Alan Aboona
Aboona averaged 17.8 points and 6.5 assists per game in the
opening four games of the season. Aboona scored a season-high 22
points in a 91-64 win over Hendrix Nov.17, and notched the third
double-double of his career with 18 points and a career-high 12
assists in a 94-74 win over Rose-Hulman. He shot 12-for-32 from
3-point range.
Brian Salzillo
Salzillo averaged 25.2 points per game, shooting 53 percent from
3-point range in a 4-1 week for Eastern Connecticut State. He shot
31-for-59 from beyond the arc for the Warriors. Salzillo scored 31
vs. Worcester State, 24 vs. Purchase and Nichols, 17 vs. Catholic
(with six assists) and 30 vs. Manhattanville.
Avery Green
Green averaged 29.5 points and 4.2 rebounds in a 3-1 start to the
season for the Hornets. He scored 29 apiece vs. Methodist and Hood,
23 vs. North Carolina Wesleyan and 37 in a loss at Mary Washington.
He shot 43-for-69 from the floor for the week and added 10 steals
in the four games.
David Dixon
Dixon helped lead the Regents to a 3-0 start. He opened by scoring
30 points, on 13-for-21 shooting, with five rebounds, three assists
and three blocks against Loras and followed that up by pouring in
34 points, on 13-for-18 shooting, with 11 rebounds vs.
Concordia-Chicago. Against Eureka, he added 15 points, seven
rebounds, and four assists. Through the first three games, Dixon is
shooting 56.6 percent from the floor and 53.8 percent from 3-point
range.
David Langan
Langan recorded career highs in each game to open the year, as
Wesley won its first three games. He had 25 points, 16 rebounds and
four steals in the season opener vs. Mount St. Mary and followed
with 26 points and nine boards in win at Johns Hopkins. Langan was
perfect from the field for the second consecutive game in a win vs.
Albright with 27 points, 14 rebounds, three assists, and three
blocks. He made 22 consecutive shots from the field which is two
off the Division III record.
