Men
Josh Robinson
Robinson scored 11 points in just 10 first-half minutes in a 105-60 win over Penn College. He recorded second-highest single-game scoring total in SU history with 52 points (17-for-28 from field, 7-for-14 on threes, 11-for-13 from foul line) in a 98-97 overtime win against King's, adding game highs of seven rebounds and six assists. Robinson was named the Pepsi/Weis Markets Tip-Off Tournament MVP.
Andrew Tulowitzky
Tulowitzky averaged 26.5 points, 5.5 rebounds, 4.5 assists and 2.0 steals as Oglethorpe began the season 2-0. He shot 65% from the field (13-for-20), 64% from behind the arc (9-for-14), and 89% from the charity stripe (8-for-9).
Dana John
John earned Most Valuable Player honors at Emmanuel's tip-off tournament, averaging 26.5 points, while leading the Gothic Knights to the tournament championship and a 2-0 start. He added 7.0 rebounds, 3.5 assists and 1.0 blocks per game, while shooting 55.9 percent from the field, 55.6 percent from three-point range and 83.3 percent from the line.
Daniel Falcon
Falcon earned MVP honors as the Violets captured the NYU Tip-Off Tournament title with wins over Alfred (77-43) and Emerson (63-49). Falcon recorded double-doubles in both victories, finishing with 12 points and 11 boards against Alfred, then contributed 17 points and 15 rebounds vs. Emerson. In addition, he helped hold both NYU opponents under 30 percent shooting.
Ben Strong
Strong was named the Jimmy V. Classic's Most Valuable Player after averaging 26.5 points, 9.5 rebounds, and 2.0 blocked shots in a pair of games. In the opening game, he scored 23 points, grabbed nine rebounds, and swatted three shots against Robert Morris. He followed that up by tying a career-high with 30 points and 10 boards in victory over Sewanee. He made 20 of 32 shots.
Women
Beth Reed
Reed was named MVP of the Subway Classic at Virginia Wesleyan. Against Salisbury, she had six points, eight assists, and eight steals. In the Championship Game against host Virginia Wesleyan, Reed was 10-for-11 from the field and 5-for-6 from three-point range for 29 points. She also had seven rebounds, five assists, and two steals.
Alicia Sanders
Sanders was named MVP of the Lebanon Valley Tournament after leading SU to wins over Pitt-Greensburg and host LVC. She hit the game-winner against LVC with 1.1 seconds remaining, while scoring 33 points against Pitt-Greensburg. Sanders made 62% of her three-pointers on the week (8-13) and all eight of her free throws.
Lindsay Ippel
Ippel averaged 24 points and 11.5 rebounds through the first two games as Millikin opened the season with a 2-0 record. The Big Blue opened the season at home in its 7th Annual Coaches vs. Cancer Tournament, with Ippel a big part of those wins and was named to the all-tournament team. Against Marygrove, she tied her career highs of 29 points and 19 rebounds. In a 101-40 win over Webster on Sunday, she played just 19 minutes but was a perfect 6-for-6 from the field and 7-of-12 from the free throw line for 19 points.
Katelyn Whiton
Whiton was named tournament MVP of the Rockford College Tip-Off Tournament. She had a 12-for-15 shooting performance against Maryville and a 10-for-12 one against St. Norbert. Whiton averaged 23 points, five rebounds and four steals on the week.
Alex Porter
Porter was selected as the MVP of Rochester's Chuck Resler Tournament. The Yellowjackets defeated Clarkson, 82-54, in the first round, then beat top-ranked Scranton, 69-51, in the title game. Porter had 13 points and a career-high 20 rebounds (15 defensive) along with four steals and two assists in 29 minutes in the title game. She had 10 points and 15 rebounds in the second half as Rochester outscored the Lady Royals, 44-19, and held Scranton to 22.6% from the floor (7-of-22).
