The Team of the Week was in its third season in 1999-2000, recognizing the top performance at each of the five positions from the previous week.

Men's

Brant Bailey
Bailey scored 34 points in a win at UW-Oshkosh on Jan. 5 and 22 points in a win at UW-Platteville on Saturday, ending UWP's 96-game regular-season home winning streak, and giving the Pointers first place in WIAC.

Joe Nixon
Nixon scored 14 points in 25 minutes against Hendrix including a crucial 3-pointer with just over two minutes left to boost DePauw's lead to four in the 68-67 victory. He came off the bench to score 20 points in 17 minutes in the 86-55 win against No. 22 Rhodes. In that game he hit seven of eight field goal tries and all five free throws.

Greg Hardin
Hardin continued his outstanding individual season by averaging 36.0 points and 10.3 rebounds per game in contests against Lebanon Valley, Albright, and Gwynedd-Mercy. Hardin scored 32 against the Flying Dutchmen, 25 against the Lions, and a career-high 51 against the Griffins. The effort against Gwynedd-Mercy included 20 field goals, which ties the school record, and a personal-best seven 3-pointers, not to mention grabbing 17 rebounds. For the season, Hardin is averaging 32.4 points, 11.9 rebounds, and 2.2 blocks per game. He has a .537 (115-for-214) field goal percentage and is shooting .349 (23-for-66) from outside.

Chad Fabian
Fabian was named the Most Valuable Player of the Colonel Classic after tossing in 18 points, including the 1,000th of his career, in the Colonels' 68-66 upset win against No. 5 William Paterson. Fabian also cashed in a game-high 20 points in the Jan. 7 semifinal win against Maine-Farmington. Fabian's performance helped the Colonels win their third consecutive Colonel Classic title and improve their record to 8-3.

Rob Makarewicz
Makarewicz led Susquehanna to a 3-0 week which included wins against nationally ranked Franklin & Marshall (91-75) and King's (94-84) -- winning the King's Ramada Plaza/Hotel Classic with that win against the host Monarchs. Makarewicz was named tournament Most Valuable Player as he averaged 19.5 points in the two wins. His jumper with 30 seconds left gave Susquehanna its first lead of the game in a come-from-behind 71-68 win against Kean in the first round. He then scored a game-high 27 on 11-for-13 shooting from the field and a 4-for-5 day from the line in the championship game, also collecting four rebounds, an assist, a block and three steals. The 27 points was just one shy of tying his career high. He had 18 points while going 4-for-8 from the field and 9-for-10 from the line with a pair of steals in the upset of F&M.

Women's

Heidi Burkhart
Burkhart led Rockford to its fifth consecutive win and seventh in eight games to push the Regents' record to 8-3. She averaged 24.5 ppg, scoring 49 points in 50 minutes this week. She scored 22 of her game-high 27 points in the second half Jan. 4 as the Regents outlasted Webster on the road 68-59. She also led a Regent charge from nine points down midway through the second half Jan. 6 when the Regents went on a 21-5 run to beat Trinity International 67-61. The five-game win streak comes barely one year after Rockford snapped a NCAA-record 70 game losing streak.

Jessica Ott
The Team of the Week veteran tied the school record for points in a single game with 36 versus UW-Platteville Jan. 8. She was also 17-for-18 at the free-throw line for the week and 5-for-14 from behind the 3-point arc.

Joanne Polakoski Joanne Polakoski
Polakoski captured MVP honors at the Grotto Pizza Classic as she led the Lady Monarchs to their third tourney title of the season. In two games, she averaged 24.5 points, 11.5 rebounds, 4.5 steals and 2.5 assists. In a 74-64 win against No. 19 Gwynedd-Mercy, she scored 30 points with nine rebounds, shooting 10-for-18 from the field and 10-for-10 from the foul line. In a 66-35 route of 1999 NCAA qualifier Cabrini, she posted 19 points and 14 rebounds on the day in just 28 minutes of play. Polakoski has scored in double figures in her last 40 games and has also posted double figures in 60 of her last 61 contests.

Ann Harrington
Harrington made the All-Tournament Team as Susquehanna split a pair of games at last weekend's Gettysburg Days Inn Tournament, scoring its most impressive win since the season-ending injury to star senior center Karyn Kern with a 68-49 rout of the host Bullets (8-3) in the consolation game. The starting small forward, Harrington had a carer high 24 points in that win -- also hitting three treys and grabbing five rebounds. She had a three-pointer and a field goal in consecutive trips down the floor as Susquehanna made a seven-point run to rally from a 40-33 second half deficit and tie, eventually going on to the 19-point win. Harrington also scored a game high 16 points in the first-round loss to eventual champion Division II Wheeling Jesuit (62-50).

Stephanie Howard
The junior center averaged 14.6 points over three games last week, shot 65 percent from the field, and was a stellar 18-for-21 from the charity stripe. She also added 10 blocks in the three games, to go along with nine assists.
