March 14, 2025The dance goes on for No. 5 Gustavus women's basketball, which advanced to the NCAA Elite Eight for the first time in program history Friday evening, defeating McMurry (Texas) 71-58 on the campus of Bowdoin College in Brunswick, Maine. The Gusties (29-1, 17-1 MIAC) will face No. 8 Smith (Mass.).

No. 5 Women’s Hoops Finds Rhythm Late, Advances to NCAA Second Round in Overtime Thriller
March 07, 2025Friday night's game was the first NCAA Regional at Gus Young Court for the Gustavus women's basketball team. But returning players fell to a bit of déjà vu, as the No. 5 Gusties found themselves in overtime all over again to open the national tournament, after a disappointing 2-OT loss to Trine to end last year's postseason run. "Everyone knows what happened at Trine last year," said senior Rachel Kawiecki (Richfield, Minn.). "I looked at Emma [Kniefel] and smiled and said, 'Let's do this, let's finish this game.'" And finish it they did, earning redemption on their home court with a 61-49 victory over Wisconsin Lutheran in the first round of the NCAA Tournament on Friday, March 7.

March 03, 2023In a game that was as close as the preseason poll suggested it would be, Trine played stellar defense and outlasted Gustavus Adolphus, 61-58, in double overtime, ousting the fifth-ranked Gusties from the Tournament.
