February 15, 2025 12th-Ranked Christopher Newport Downs Mary Washington, 71-55, as Jahn Hines Scores 22 Following Jersey Retirement Ceremony Christopher Newport University fifth-year senior All-American Jahn Hines didn't let the emotion of Senior Night affect his play Saturday night. Not even the retirement of his uniform number 22 prior to tip off got in the way of another sparkling performance from the Norfolk native, who led the 12th-ranked Captains to a 71-55 victory over the University of Mary Washington at the Freeman Center. Hines provided another night of incredible entertainment for Captains fans by scoring exactly 22 points as CNU improved to 20-4 on the season. To make it even more memorable, he added a career-high 18 rebounds for his fourth double-double of the season. His brother, junior Collin Hines, also got in the act by scoring 14 points and pulling down 12 boards for his own double-double, his fifth of the year, as the Captains wrapped up their home schedule with a Freeman Center mark of 12-1.

After trailing for most of the night, the Captains finally pulled ahead with just over five minutes to go and held off the upset-minded Sea Gulls, 67-65. The victory was the fifth straight for John Krikorian's squad, and the tenth in the last 11 games. The Captains are now 19-4, while Salisbury fell to 15-8 with its third straight defeat.
