Matt Johnson followed up his record-setting performance with a 49-point night, capping it with a 28-foot buzzer beater to lift Chicago to a 103-102 upset of No. 4 Emory.

No. 17 NYU cut Carnegie Mellon's lead from 14 points to one in the second half before the visiting Tartans held on to defeat the Violets 70-68.

Johnson shot 15-for-22 from the floor and 8-for-13 from three-point range in breaking the school single-game scoring record he tied last week.

Andy Stein scored a game-high 23 points for the Violets, who picked up their second loss of the season. The Tartans got balanced scoring from Asad Mahani (16 points), John Duhring (15) and Rashaun Riley (15) in improving to 7-10.

Brandeis survived Case Western Reserve 78-74 in overtime, while Wash U and Rochester played the blowout of the night in the UAA, a five-point game in which the Bears won 83-78 to take first place on its own in the league.

In SCAC action, Joe Stephens hit a three-pointer as time expired to lift the University of Dallas past Sewanee 64-61. Stephens was 3-for-4 from three-point range with a team-high 14 points. No. 12 Birmingham-Southern won its 10th consecutive game, defeating Colorado College 53-42. Trinity (Texas) got back in the win column with a 66-50 win against Rhodes.

Moravian overcame 23 points, 11 rebounds and nine blocked shots from Goucher's Trae Lindsay to defeat the Gophers 68-65 in the Landmark Conference. Scranton went on the road to Catholic and shot 53 percent from the field in downing the Cardinals 79-62. It's Scranton's 10th consecutive win against the Cardinals. In the Empire 8, Sheldon Jones scored 28 points and Simon Smith tallied 16 points and pulled down 18 rebounds as Stevens earned a 71-67 win at Ithaca. Hartwick, Stevens and Nazareth are tied for first in the league.
