Women's wrap: Buzzing through the Midwest

Jackie Walker's basket kept Rochester's unbeaten season going.

No. 5 Rochester started its big Midwestern road trip by winning at No. 7 Washington U., setting up a showdown on Sunday.

Rochester enters the weekend undefeated and highly ranked, but the Yellowjackets will be ranked even higher if they finish the weekend undefeated. Rochester is halfway there after beating Washington U. 72-70 in St. Louis. Jackie Walker's layup with 19 seconds left was the difference. Rochester was 0-23 in the WU Fieldhouse coming into the game. Jodie Luther, who scored her 1,000th career point in the game, led Rochester with 15 points.

The Yellowjackets travel to No. 2 Chicago on Sunday. The Maroons tuned up for the battle by beating Emory 68-49.

No. 8 Lewis and Clark edged Whitman 71-69 in overtime. Kristina Williams rescued the Pioneers with a jump shot with four seconds left in regulation to tie the game at 63-63. Neva Hauser scored 21 for Lewis and Clark while Jenele Peterson scored 21 for the Missionaries.

Drew gave No. 13 Juniata all it could handle before the Eagles escaped with a 58-54 victory. Logan Cavanaugh's jumper pushed Drew in front 54-53 with 2:35 left but Juniata held the Rangers scoreless the rest of the way. Alyssia Gordon scored 20 points for the Eagles.

St. Lawrence upped its conference record to 9-0 by beating Vassar 67-60. The Saints have a four game lead in the Liberty League with seven games remaining, including two with Bard (1-14, 0-7). Rhodes improved to 13-5 with a 97-90 overtime win at Trinity (Texas).
