The Team of the Week was in its eighth season in 2004-05, recognizing the top performance at each of the five positions from the previous week.

Men

Mike McGarvey
McGarvey averaged 19.0 points with 57.1% shooting from beyond the arc as the Bears won the Centennial Conference championship last week. He had a team-high 24 points and game-high nine assists in the 87-72 semifinal win vs. Gettysburg. He followed that up with 20 points and five assists, including assisting on the game-winning layup, in the 72-70 victory at Franklin and Marshall.

Mark Washington
Washington averaged 20.0 points, 9.3 rebounds, 3.0 steals, 2.7 assists and 1.3 blocks per game last week. In the championship game of the Association of Division III Independents Tournament, Washington picked up MVP honors with a 27-point (10-for-16 shooting, 4-for-6 three-pointers) performance in a 92-82 win over Lincoln. NJCU edged Lincoln for the final independent bid to the NCAA Tournament. Washington also had a 22-point, 15-rebound showing at Mitchell.

Doug Espenson
Espenson averaged 22.0 points, 8.0 rebounds, 6.0 assists, and 2.5 blocks per game as the Gusties won the MIAC playoff championship. He scored 14 points, grabbed six rebounds, dished out nine assists and blocked four shots in the semifinal win over Bethel and then scored 30 points and grabbed 10 rebounds in the championship game against St. Thomas. With the game tied at 55-55 and 2:23 remaining, Espenson hit a 3-point shot and followed with a dunk after a steal 30 seconds later to spark a 13-0 run in the final two minutes of the game.

Tori Davis
Davis led Baldwin-Wallace to a NCAA berth, thanks to a 43-point performance (15-for-18 shooting), adding 15 rebounds, in the quarterfinals of the OAC tournament. He also made the game winner with 1.2 seconds to go in overtime.

Sean Devins
Devins led the Tigers to the 2005 SCAC Championship, averaging 15.0 points, 7.7 rebounds, 5.3 blocks, and 3.0 assists in the three wins at last week's conference tournament. For his efforts, Devins was named the SCAC Tournament MVP for the second straight season, and set the tournament record for blocked shots.

Women

Latrese McNair
McNair averaged 11.5 points, 6.3 steals, 4.5 assists, and 4.5 rebounds per game in a 2-2 week. She had 17 points, nine steals, and five assists at Lincoln, marking the sixth time this season she has had at least nine steals in a game.

Oneisha Staples
Oneisha led Mount St. Mary to its sixth straight Skyline Conference title by averaging 18.3 points, 3.7 assists, and 3.0 rebounds per game in three playoff wins last week. Staples scored 14 points in only 22 minutes of a quarterfinal win over Mount St. Vincent. She added 13 points and five rebounds in the semis against Kings Point. Staples finished the tourney with 28 points in the title game against SUNY-Farmingdale.

Angie Butler
Butler averaged 26.0 points and 5.5 rebounds in the NIIC Tournament while shooting .786 (22-28) from the field, leading the Regents to their third NCAA tournament in the past five years. In Wednesday's 54-53 semifinal win against Aurora, Butler helped the Regents rally from a 14-point second half deficit (43-29). Butler took over the game, scoring 19 of the Regents' final 21 points, including the game-winner with 13 seconds left.

Tracey Little
Little showed why she was named Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference Co-Player of the Year with a 24-point, 17-rebound performance in the AMCC championship game. Frostburg State's win against Pitt-Greensburg earned the Bobcats their first title since the 2000 season. For the tournament Little averaged 22.5 points, 13.0 rebounds, and 2.5 assists.

Tara Rohde
Rohde led Trinity to its second SCAC championship in the past three years, defeating DePauw 84-70 in the title game. In the title game, Rohde scored 28 points on 13-17 shooting to vault Trinity to the win. Rohde averaged 17.7 points and 7.0 rebounds, hitting 80.6% of her shots for the tournament. Rohde was named the SCAC Tournament MVP for her efforts.
