The Team of the Week was in its fifth season in 2001-02, recognizing the top performance at each of the five positions from the previous week.

Women's

Jenny Cooper
Franklin's freshman point guard averaged 17.0 points, 7.0 assists, and 2.5 steals as the Grizzlies split a pair of games. In Wednesday's overtime road loss to archrival Hanover, the 5-6 rookie scored a career-high 19 points while shooting 7-for-14 from the field and 3-for3 from the line. On Saturday, in an 87-73 road win against Thomas More, she had 15 points and a school-record 13 assists to key the victory.

Angie Peterson
Peterson raised her play to a new level in helping the Gusties claim wins over St. Ben's, St. Thomas and Concordia last week. She scored seven points and grabbed nine rebounds in the win over No. 14 St. Ben's, then added 27 points, five rebounds and four assists in the win over No. 16 St. Thomas and finished with 21 points and five assists in the win against Concordia. Peterson hit a jumper with 24 seconds remaining to give the Gusties the lead for good against St. Ben's, made seven of eight free throws in the final two minutes against St. Thomas, and scored all 21 of her points in the second half as the Gusties rallied from a two-point halftime deficit to defeat Concordia.

Jenny Gibson
Gibson recorded two double-doubles for the week including 19 points and a career-high 18 rebounds in E&H's upset of Bridgewater. On the week, Gibson averaged 15.3 points, 13.0 rebounds, 2.0 blocks and 1.7 steals on 60.7 percent shooting from the field, 67 percent from 3-point land and a perfect 6-for-6 from the charity stripe. Gibson has helped E&H win nine in a row and 15 of their last 16 games.

Whitney Bull
Bull registered her fifth and sixth consecutive double-doubles by tossing in 21 points and grabbing 17 rebounds in each of the Lady Colonels' contests. Over the course of the last six games, Bull is averaging 19.8 points and 16.9 rebounds per game. She shot 14-for-28 from the floor and 14-for-18 from the line.

Marla Shupert
Shupert scored 17 points in her first career start as the freshman shot 14-for-23 from the floor for 29 points and 11 rebounds in a two-game week for Emory.

Men's

Matt Mooney
Mooney was 12-for-18 from the floor, including 11-for-16 from 3-point range, and was a perfect 3-for-3 from the free-throw line to score a SCAC season-high 38 points in a 104-102 loss at Rhodes. For the week, he shot 64.3 percent from the field (18-for-28), including 66.7 percent from 3-point range (16-for-24), and averaged 27.5 points per game. He also chipped in with three rebounds, two assists and two steals.

Rashaan Barner
Barner posted his fourth consecutive double-double (and ninth of the season) by scoring a career-high 32 points and pulling down 12 rebounds in a victory against Ramapo. For an encore, he finished with 18 points and seven rebounds as the Pioneers went on a 19-0 run to start their victory over New Jersey while holding the opposition scoreless for the game's first 10:48. William Paterson has won six consecutive games.

Patrick Russell
Russell scored 62 points, grabbed 13 rebounds, dished out nine assists and shot 53 percent from the field to lead Macalester to wins over Augsburg and St. Olaf. Russell had 34 points, eight rebounds and four assists in Monday's 83-68 win at Augsburg, going 8-for-14 from 3-point range. In Wednesday's 93-84 overtime win against St. Olaf, Russell had 28 points and five assists, going 4-for-8 on 3-pointers and 12-for-12 from the foul line. For the week he was 19-for-36 from the field, 12-for-22 from 3-point territory (54.5 percent) and 12-for-12 from the line.

Matt Hilleary
Hilleary averaged 26.5 points and 12 rebounds for the Cardinals in a 2-0 week. The junior shot 24-for-33 from the floor (72.7 percent) while playing only 55 minutes in wins against York (Pa.) and Gallaudet.

Kim Maina
Maina recorded his sixth double-double of the year with 20 points and 10 rebounds vs. Texas Lutheran and averaged 18.6 points, 8.6 rebounds, and 1.0 steals per game in three games. He was 5-for-6 from the floor and 10-for-14 from the line against TLU and 6-for-7 from floor vs. Schreiner. Maina shot 72 percent (18-for-25) from floor in the three games combined and 58 percent (18-for-31) from the line.
