Junior guard Molly Etheridge dropped in a career-high 26 points and Augustana outscored Robert Morris-Springfield 38-12 over the last 10 minutes Saturday to come away a 75-63 winner at Carver Center. The win was the first in Mark Beinborn's head coaching career and evened the Vikings' record for the year at 1-1. RMU-Springfield fell to 1-2.
Bobbi Endress announced her resignation as the head women's basketball coach at Augustana after a six year stint with the Vikings. The resignation is effective immediately.
Led by Natalie Runge, the Augustana seniors closed out their career in the Carver Center in fine style with an impressive 68-57 victory over Elmhurst in College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin action on Saturday, February 11. Runge dropped in 24 points, pulled down six rebounds and picked up a steal as the Vikings pulled away in the closing minutes.
Augustana gave Illinois Wesleyan a battle Wednesday night at Carver Center, but eventually fell 76-64 at the hands of the CCIW-leading Titans. Natalie Runge led three Vikings in double figures with a game-high 17 points as Augustana dropped to 9-11 overall and 1-8 in the conference. Illinois Wesleyan improved to 15-5 on the year and 8-1 in league play.
Augustana battled back from an early 14-2 deficit Wednesday night, but could never quite get all the way over the hump, falling 78-67 to Wheaton at Carver Center. The loss drops the Vikings to 9-9 on the season and 1-6 in CCIW play. The Thunder improve to 12-6 overall and 5-2 in the league.
Despite outshooting and outrebounding the visitors from North Park Wednesday night, Augustana was unable to come away with a victory. North Park took advantage of 27 turnovers by the hosts to earn a 64-58 win at Carver Center. The loss drops Augustana to 9-7 overall and 1-4 in the CCIW, while North Park improves to 7-9 on the year and 1-4 in the league.
Lack of productivity on offense didn’t help Augustana in a 56-35 loss at Elmhurst in College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin women’s basketball action on Saturday, January 14 at Faganel Hall. The Vikings shot just .213 from the field and were unable to put a single player in double figures in the loss.
After battling defending champion Illinois Wesleyan to a near-draw in the first half, Augustana fell to a hot shooting performance in the second half on Wednesday, January 11 in Bloomington, Illinois. The Vikings dropped the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin contest to the Titans by a score of 65-44.
Sophomore Molly Etheridge tossed in a three point field goal at the buzzer to give Augustana a pulsating 66-65 victory over North Central in College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin action on Saturday, January 7 in the Carver Center.
After falling behind by 10 points at halftime and by 12 midway through the second half, Augustana rallied to tie the game with just under eight minutes to play. However, the Vikings couldn't maintain that pace and fell to Millikin 55-49 in the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin opener for both teams.
Augustana used an enormous 59-23 edge on the boards to defeat Aurora 69-36 Tuesday night at Carver Center. With the win, the Vikings improve to 7-3 on the season heading into their final non-conference game Saturday, December 17 at Dubuque.
Augustana used a combination of strong rebounding and tough defense to pick up a 61-38 non-conference victory at Robert Morris-Springfield on Tuesday, December 6.
Liz Lawinger drained a three point field goal at the buzzer with two Augustana defenders draped all over her to lift Wisconsin-Platteville to a 59-56 non-conference victory over the Vikings on Tuesday, November 29 in the Carver Center. The heart-breaking defeat was the first of the season for head coach Bobbi Endress’ team, which had tied a school record for best start with four straight victories.
Seniors Natalie Runge and Kristina Howard led the way Saturday afternoon as Augustana remained unbeaten with a 70-62 win over Webster at Carver Center. Runge scored a game-high 21 points and Howard added 13 points and a game-high eight rebounds as the Vikings improved to 4-0.
Whitney Miller’s (Clinton HS, Clinton, Iowa) 12 points led a balanced Augustana attack Sunday as the Vikings moved to 3-0 on the year with a 60-56 win over the hosts at the Colorado College Tip-Off Tournament. Coach Bobbi Endress got at least six points from seven different players in the win, which gives Augustana its first 3-0 start to a season since Diane Schumacher’s 1986-87 team started 4-0.
An 18 point, seven rebound performance from sophomore Molly Etheridge (Normal Community HS, Bloomington, Ill.) keyed Augustana's 72-45 victory over Presentation College on Saturday, November 19. The game was a first round contest in the Colorado College Tip-Off Classic in Colorado Springs, Colorado.
Sophomore Molly Etheridge scored 17 of her game-high 22 points in the second half Wednesday night as Augustana opened the 2011-12 season with a 78-73 win over Monmouth at Carver Center. Junior Gianna Pecora added 18 points for the Vikings, who are 1-0 on the young season.
With a roster that includes eight seniors, Augustana head women's basketball coach Bobbi Endress is eager to get the 2011-12 season underway. Endress and the Vikings will be looking to build on last year's late-season surge that saw the team win three of its last five road contests in conference play.
After playing well for the first 33 minutes of the game, a five minute dry spell proved to be the difference as Augustana fell to Lakeland 63-54 in the opening round of the Lakeland Tip-Off Tournament on Friday, November 19 in Plymouth, Wisconsin.

After achieving the program’s highest win total since the 2002-03 season last year, Augustana head women’s basketball coach Bobbi Endress is approaching the 2010-11 season with optimism. The Vikings went 7-18 a year ago and four starters return from that team. In addition, Augustana took a trip to Greece in the early part of the summer of 2010 and Endress thinks that experience will be helpful to her team this year.
