No. 24 New Jersey City denied No. 13 Ramapo a flawless run through the first half of NJAC play and cut the number of undefeated Division III men's basketball teams to two by beating the Roadrunners 76-71 in overtime.

With five minutes to pay in regulation, Shaquan Worthy hit a three from the top of the key late in the shot clock to give New Jersey City a 59-54 lead. Ramapo amped up its defensive pressure and held the Gothic Knights to just two free throws the rest of the half. The Roadrunners had several chances to tie the game and finally did so with 2.1 seconds left in regulation on Sultan Aminu's layup off a teammate's missed shot.

Ramapo scored the first four points of overtime before Jalen Harris took over for New Jersey City. Harris scored seven points over the Gothic Knights' next thrree possessions to give New Jersey City a one-point lead and Ata Robinson followed with a three-pointer ot extend the lead to four. Harris added one more jumper and Robinson made three free throws in the final 12 seconds to secure New Jersey City's victory. Recap

Harris finished with 17 points for New Jersey City (13-3, 7-2 NJAC) while Aminu paced Ramapo (14-1, 8-1 NJAC) with 14 points and nine rebounds. New Jersey City outscored Ramapo 30-0 from three.

Ramapo's loss leaves two undefeated teams in Division III men's basketball. No. 2 Whitman stayed that way with 20 points from Tim Howell in a 90-70 over Puget Sound. No. 3 Rochester plays No. 20 Washington U. tomorrow in the usual Sunday afternoon UAA matchup.

No. 6 Tufts moved a game in front of the rest of the NESCAC pack with a 94-81 win at home over Hamilton. KJ Garrett scored a career-high 19 points and the Jumbos outscored the Continentals 42-26 in the paint. Tufts sits one game in front of No. 15 Middlebury which pulled itself into a tie for second place by beating Bates, 79-71. Wesleyan followed up Friday night's come-from-behind win over No. 5 Amherst with a 65-61 win over rival Trinity (Conn.) while Amherst dropped its second straight, this time losing to Connecticut College 83-76 in overtime.

No. 7 UW-River Falls stayed on top of the WIAC standings, thanks to Alex Herink's last-second shot to beat UW-Stevens Point, 69-68. MJ Delmore hit four consecutive free throws in the final minute to put the Pointers in front 68-67 before Herink sank a jumper with one second remaining. Herink was fouled on the play and missed the free throw, but Stevens Point didn't have enough time to get a final shot off. With the victory, River Falls (14-1, 4-0 WIAC) extended its winning streak to 12 games.

In other WIAC action, Oshkosh beat No. 10 Eau Claire 70-62 on the road. The Titans led for nearly the entire game despite Josh Weix scoring 23 points for the Blugolds. No. 23 Whitewater got its first conference win when Cole Van Schnydel hit a shot with 3.3 seconds left to lift the Warhawks past Platteville, 68-66.

Needing a win to stay alone in first in the Centennial Conference, No. 16 Swarthmore got beaten soundly at home by Franklin and Marshall, 83-66. The Diplomats held a 22-point lead midway through the second half before the Garnet rallied to close the deficit. J.C. McGrath scored 30 points on 10-for-14 shooting from the field and 10-for-10 shooting from the free throw line. The Garnet's loss coupled with wins by Dickinson at Washington College and Ursinus over Gettysburg creates a three-way tie for first in the Centennial.

York (Pa.) upset No. 12 Salisbury 78-74 on Blayde Reich's three-point play with 39 seconds to play. Reich finished with 18 points, six rebounds and two steals for the Spartans who dropped the Seagulls into a tie for first place with No. 4 Christopher Newport. The Captains won at Penn State-Harrisburg, 73-55.

Josh Hau scored 30 points and Concordia (Wis.) shot 50 percent from the field to beat No. 14 Benedictine, 83-80. The Falcons' win snaps the Eagles' 34-game winning streak in conference games. Brady Rose scored 25 points and No. 23 Illinois Wesleyan topped Carthage, 77-74.

Outside the Top 25, Randolph-Macon beat Roanoke 77-71 to stay perfect in ODAC play. The Yellowjackets hit 15 three-pointers with five from Sean Ryan and four from Grayson Midulla. Guilford is also undefeated in the ODAC after the Quakers pulled away from Bridgewater (Va.) 64-48. Because the ODAC plays an unbalanced schedule, Randolph-Macon and Guilford will only play once and not until February 11.

Goucher notched its first conference win of the season and the first win in basketball ever over Scranton, 83-70. The Gophers are now 1-18 against the Royals in men's basketball and 0-20 in women's basketball.

Johns Hopkins held Haverford to 14 field goals and 23 turnovers in a 63-31 route. Endicott regained first place in the CCC with a 93-80 win over Nichols, despite 37 points for Marcos Echevarria. Hamline held off Macalester 92-83 despite the Scots getting 40 points from Michael Gutierrez. He went 10-for-17, including 8-for-12 from three, with 12-for-12 from the free throw line. Box score
