MEQUON, WI - Despite a career best 30 points from Michael Blaszczyk, the 14th-ranked Benedictine University men's basketball team saw a Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference record 34-game regular season win streak end at Concordia University Wisconsin.

THE DETAILS
• Benedictine played from behind for most of the game
• An 8-0 spurt opened on a layup from Tahron Harvey allowed Benedictine to open the largest advantage of the game from either side
• Blaszczyk hit a jumper at the 8:22 marker to give Benedictine a 31-23 edge
• The hosts instantly responded with seven straight and led by three in the final minute of the half before three free throws from Blaszczyk tied the game at 44-44
• Concordia Wisconsin opened a six-point advantage at 54-48 five minutes into the second half
• A pair of free throws from Blaszczyk just over five minutes later enabled Benedictine to lead 63-62
• Benedictine couldn't come up with a key stop to keep momentum as the lead continually ping-ponged
• Down four with 27 seconds left, Harvey completed a three-point play to bring Benedictine within 81-80, but the hosts made both ensuing free throws and a desperation attempt to tie from Blaszczyk missed as time expired
• The loss marked the first in conference play since a 72-69 road defeat at Edgewood on January 31, 2015
• Concordia Wisconsin is the last conference opponent to defeat Benedictine, winning 76-70 in the NACC semifinals on February 24, 2015
• Concordia Wisconsin held the previous conference record at 19 consecutive regular season victories
• The game featured 14 ties and 12 lead changes while also bringing to an end a stretch of 10 straight wins against NCAA Division III opponents
• At least 12 other ranked teams will have taken a loss by the end of the weekend

"We struggled defensively early and couldn't keep them off the glass," head coach Keith Bunkenburg said. "Seventeen offensive rebounds gave Concordia plenty of second chances. We missed some free throws down the stretch. Congrats to Concordia, they wanted it more than we did. Hopefully we will bounce back."

• Concordia Wisconsin scored 21 second chance points while holding a 38-34 edge on the glass, just the fourth team to outrebound Benedictine
