November 12, 2022 Lancers victorious in Wheaton Tip-Off Classic Worcester, MA - The Lancers took on the Wheaton College Lyons Saturday evening in the championship of the Wheaton Tip-Off Classic, looking to build from their 111-94 triumph over Hunter last night. Worcester had a slight lead at the start of the second half when Wheaton came back to put the score at 44 apiece with just over ten to go in the game. It wouldn't be until two minutes after when Senior Guard Zion Hendrix's (Charlotte, NC) three point jump shot, with the assist coming from Junior Guard Brandon Goris (Bronx, NY), broke the tie to give Worcester the lead again. The Lancers would extend their lead to double digits heading into the final minutes.A steal and a layup by First-year Guard Chris Paul (Everett, MA) in the final seconds of the game sealed the victory over the Lyons.
November 11, 2022 Lancers Start Big versus Hunter Worcester, MA-The Worcester State Men's Basketball started their second game of the season in decisive fashion on Friday night. Nearly halfway through the first half the Lancers had already developed a 25-point lead over Hunter in the first game of the Wheaton College Tip-Off Classic. Worcester State started their season early Tuesday morning when they took number 8 seeded WPI to the final buzzer in their season opener.
November 8, 2022 Lancers Take No. 8 WPI to Final Moments in Midnight Madness Showdown Worcester, MA- As the clock struck midnight on Nov. 8, fans of the Worcester State Lancers and the No. 8 Worcester Polytechnic Institute (WPI) Engineers filed into WPI for a unique Men's Basketball tipoff between the two Worcester schools. This was the first game played in the Division lll Men's Basketball 2022-23 season. With pregame warmups were underway, it was clear to see that the players and fans from both teams were excited about the return of this unique opportunity that has been on pause the last few years. For many at the court, this game harkens back to their elementary school days, when sleepovers would occur every weekend and it was not uncommon for these students to sneak outside at midnight to scrimmage each other under the house lights. Under these house lights, Worcester State brought the Engineers down to the final seconds before a late layup brought WPI a 73-71 victory in the early morning.
June 5, 2018 New blood comes in at Worcester State A former Division III player and assistant coach, Tyler Hundley will take over for Dave Lindberg, whose 24-year career ended with a 3-22 season.
November 17, 2015 Tipping off at midnight You can debate whether it makes sense for D-III teams to tip off at 12:01 a.m. But what you can't debate is that when Clark hosted Worcester State last Friday morning, it was a great thing to watch.
