Wheaton will face the winning team from Friday's other Sectional Semifinal between University of Mary Hardin Baylor and the host Captains of Christopher Newport University on Saturday at 7:30 p.m. (EST).

Tyson Cruickshank leads No. 8 Wheaton to a 72-62 win at home against North CentralFebruary 08, 2023Wheaton, Ill. -- Coming halfway between a Senior Night win in a celebratory return home and an upcoming bye weekend that provides the opportunity for some rest, Wednesday night's game posed an awkward challenge for the eighth-ranked side in the country. Facing off against a sharp-shooting and talented North Central squad, the Wheaton men's basketball team knew they would have to show up to earn their fourth straight victory. The first half of this evening's contest was competitive and scrappy, but the Thunder turned on the style after halftime and eventually eased to a 72-62 win. Tyson Cruickshank bagged another game-high point total by registering 33 on Wednesday, and Wheaton have now sealed a first round bye in the upcoming conference tournament thanks to their 12-2 CCIW record.

Wheaton is now 19-3 on the season and remains alone atop the CCIW standings with an 11-2 record in conference play.

No. 8 Wheaton ends a three-game road trek with a 74-72 win at AugustanaFebruary 01, 2023Rock Island, Ill. -- The calendar may have turned to a new month on Wednesday, but the tricky conference road trips kept on coming for the eighth-ranked team in the country. Wheaton traveled west to Rock Island this evening to face Augustana in their third consecutive game away from home. The Thunder had to take care of business the hard way in a tight matchup, but the team eventually secured a two-point victory to move to 18-3 overall on the season and claim their tenth win in CCIW play. Coupled with North Park's overtime defeat to Millikin tonight, the Thunder are now back in sole possession of first place atop the conference standings.

The Thunder defeated North Park by a score of 77-67, and by doing so, inched closer to securing the number two seed for next week's conference tournament and the accompanying first round bye. After Elmhurst's loss to Millikin, Wheaton now sits alone in second place in the standings with a conference record of 11-4. Nyameye Adom led all scorers with 24 points in the scrappy contest, and Cade Alioth earned his 16th double-double of the campaign with 15 points and 17 rebounds.

Thanks to tonight's 75-71 win over the Cardinals, the Thunder improve to 16-4 overall, 8-3 in conference play, and now occupy second place in the CCIW standings. Nyameye Adom led all scorers with 26 points, and Cade Alioth and Tyson Cruickshank both posted double-doubles in an impressive team performance on Saturday.
