No. 24 Wheaton men's basketball team earns a 93-64 win at Lake Forest

Lake Forest, Ill. – The Thunder men's basketball team earned a convincing road win at Lake Forest College (1-4) on Tuesday night, 93-64. In scoring a season-high 93 points tonight the Thunder scored 50 points in the paint and made nine three-pointers in a well-rounded effort. Wheaton ranked 24th by D3hoops.com improves to 4-1 on the season.

Wheaton's offensive was effective and well distributed tonight as five different players scored in double digits. Tyson Cruickshank led the Thunder with 16 points on 6-of-9 shooting from the field, including 2-for-3 behind the three-point arc. He also had a team-high five assists with two steals. Both Eddie Scott and Eli Considine were 6-for-9, including 3-for-5 from three-point range in scoring 15 points apiece tonight. Nick Schiavello was a perfect 6-for-6 from the field in scoring 12 points. Micah Schnyders was 3-for-3 from the field and 6-for-6 at the free throw line to score 12 points. Andrew Williams scored seven points off the bench; TJ Askew had six points with four rebounds Connor Braun added five points. Considine had a team-high five rebounds.

The Thunder shot 69.4% (34-for-49) from the field tonight, including a sensational 82.1% (23-for-38) in the first half. The guests shot 60% (9-of-15) behind the tree-point line and 72.7% (16-of-22) at the free throw line. Lake Forest recorded a 44.4% (28-for-63) field goal percentage, including 33.3% (5-for-15) from three-point range. The Foresters shot 100% (3-for-3) at the charity stripe.

Wheaton out-rebounded the hosts 26-22, with the Foresters holding an 8-2 edge on the offensive glass. LFC had 15 turnovers tonight as the Thunder scored 20 points off those turnovers. The turnover advantage aided the Thunder in the transition game as Wheaton out-scored Lake Forest 22-0 on fast break points.

The Thunder scored the first six points tonight and never trailed in the win. The guests led 10-2 in the first four minutes of the contest. The guests' largest lead of the first half was a 27-point bulge at 49-22 with 3:24 remaining before halftime. Wheaton led 55-31 at halftime. Scott and Cruickshank each scored 13 first-half points for the Thunder. Schiavello scored 10 points in the opening half.

Wheaton's largest lead of the game was a 34-point lead that occurred twice in the second half, the final time was a 78-44 lead with 11:00 remaining in the game. Considine led all players in the second half with 10 points as he shot 4-for-6, including 2-for-4 behind the three-point arc.

Alex Knight led Lake Forest with 16 points and Frank Siegien added 10 points. Knight and Michael Michaud each had six rebounds for the hosts.

Wheaton returns home on Saturday for a non-conference matchup against the University of Chicago. Saturday's contest against the Maroons tips off at 7:00 p.m. in King Arena.
