    JERSEY CITY, N.J. — In one of the most unexpected turn of events in NCAA Division III men's college basketball this season, the New Jersey City University Gothic Knights took down the #23-ranked Rowan University Profs — previously unbeaten in New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) play — via an improbable sequence in the final seconds at the John J. Moore Athletics and Fitness Center (JMAC) on Wednesday night, Feb. 8. Trailing by four with just over five seconds remaining, junior forward Ryan Savoy (Lakewood, N.J./Lakewood) was open and drilled a corner three at 2.8 seconds. Then, junior guard Pharoh Allah (Rahway, N.J./St. Genevieve (Calif.)) got a tip on the inbounds to force the turnover before senior guard Jason Battle (Jersey City, N.J./Roselle Catholic) came up the ball and threw up a prayer shot from DEEP ... and drained the buzzer-beater for the 73-71 win. The play subsequently reached #1 on ESPN's SportsCenter Top 10 Plays.

NJCU won the game over the Pioneers 69-67 earning the squads fourth conference win on the season.

    CAMDEN, N.J. — The New Jersey City University men's basketball team earned a much-needed victory this evening, Jan. 11, on the road over New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) foe Rutgers-Camden. Thanks in part to a team-best 16 points and a game-high-tying nine rebounds from senior co-captain forward Kayton Darley (North Bergen, N.J./North Bergen), the Gothic Knights bested the Scarlet Raptors, 61-53. After trailing by seven at the conclusion of the first half, NJCU used a big second half to come back for the eight-point win — Jersey City outscored Camden, 36-21, in the latter 20 minutes.

The Gothic Knights, thanks in part to a game-high 13 points from senior co-captain forward Kayton Darley (North Bergen, N.J./North Bergen) — he led a balanced team offensive effort, with four players scoring in double figures — bested non-conference foe Farmingdale State College for the sixth straight time by a final score of 68-50.

The Gothic Knights hosted Ramapo College at the John J. Moore Athletics and Fitness Center (JMAC) and took down the Roadrunners by nine, 58-49, on Coach Charlie Brown Court.

    DALLAS, Pa. — The New Jersey City University men's basketball team picked up its third consecutive victory today, Saturday, Nov. 19. The Gothic Knights topped another Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) opponent, this time on the road at Misericordia University. NJCU staved off a late-second-half comeback attempt by the hosting Cougars and held on for the 77-74 victory. Junior forward Jacob Valeus (Pleasantville, N.J./Pleasantville) had a team-high 16 points on the day, including 12 in the second half.

    JERSEY CITY, N.J. — The New Jersey City University men's basketball team picked up its second straight victory in the early-going of the 2022-23 season tonight, Wednesday, Nov. 16. The Gothic Knights hosted Hudson County rival Stevens Institute of Technology to open up home play at the John J. Moore Athletics and Fitness Center (JMAC) on Coach Charlie Brown Court and topped the Ducks — receiving votes in the preseason D3hoops.com Top 25 Poll — by 10 points at 58-48. Jersey City forced 19 Stevens turnovers and had 16 points off of those miscues to boot.

    JERSEY CITY, N.J. — The New Jersey City University men's basketball team, seeded #7 in the 2021-22 New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) Tournament, hosted 10th-seeded Rutgers-Camden at the John J. Moore Athletics and Fitness Center (JMAC) on Saturday afternoon, Feb. 19. The Gothic Knights dominated the Scarlet Raptors in every facet of the First Round match-up and defeated the visitors 80-52, avenging a late-January loss to Rutgers-Camden with an exclamation point. The Green and Gold now advance to the quarterfinal round on Tuesday evening, Feb. 22, for a 7:30 p.m. tip at #2 seed Rowan University in Glassboro, N.J. NJCU nearly topped the Profs in both meetings this year — an 89-84 loss in South Jersey on Jan. 5 and a 107-104 thrilling defeat at home on Feb. 9 — and look to get over the hump next week to advance to the semifinal round.

This was NJCU's second match-up against a #1-ranked team this season and is the only team in the country to so at this point in the season.

The Gothic Knights did just that in today's consolation match-up as they trashed the University of Maine at Augusta 77-39.
