    MARSHALL, Texas – Leading from start to finish over #24 University of Mary Hardin-Baylor, East Texas Baptist University shocked the Crusaders, 72-64, to stay perfect in the American Southwest Conference. ETBU is now 7-1 on the year and 4-0 in the ASC. It is the second time in a year that ETBU has upset nationally ranked UMHB winning last year in Marshall, 81-72, when the Cru was ranked 17th.

This is the first win in seven games against the Comets dating back to 2016 and puts ETBU at 10-2 and in first place in the ASC East at 3-0

It was the 22nd straight win for ETBU in Ornelas Gym as they finish the year at home a perfect 18-0.     MARSHALL, Texas—In their first NCAA Tournament game, the East Texas Baptist University men’s basketball team put on quite a show as they defeated Hendrix 79-59 on their home court. After leading by only five at half, ETBU broke out with a 44 point second half en route to their 21st straight win at home and improve to 24-5 overall Dylan Augustine led ETBU with 19 points and made two three pointers. He was joined in double figures by Junior Mitchell with 11 and Ahnre Gray with 10. Justin Felicia led the team with 12 rebounds. Luke Vance score 25 to lead Hendrix and tied for the team lead with three rebounds.

ETBU now receives their first-ever automatic berth into the NCAA Division III Tournament and has won 13 of their last 14 games with 23 wins overall.

HPU was down nine with 1:16 remaining before storming back to get within two with nine seconds to play before missing their potential game winning three-pointer.

    PINEVILLE, La. – Starting off strong in the first half and taking an eight point lead, 18-6, East Texas Baptist University (9-15/5-12) let a Louisiana College run swing momentum to the Wildcats as they fell in American Southwest Conference East Division play, 84-75. Louisiana College went on a 21-7 run over seven and half minutes in the first half to take a 29-23 lead that led to the victory.

    MARSHALL, Texas – Shooting in the second half was the difference for East Texas Baptist University (9-12/5-10) as the University of Texas-Dallas barely walked away from Ornelas Gym with the victory, 75-69. ETBU’s hot hand of 61 percent shooting in the first half for one-point lead at the half slipped to 35 percent in the second half as Texas-Dallas found the bucket enough times to slip by the Tigers. UTD remains in first place in the American Southwest Conference East Division as ETBU’s hopes for the post-season are slowly fading away.

LeTourneau missed just two free throws (86 percernt) and ETBU went only 11-of-19 in the loss as they fell to 7-10 and 3-8 in the ASC East.

    MARSHALL, Texas – It was twice the fun in Ornelas Gymnasium for East Texas Baptist University earning an upset win, 84-82, in double overtime against the University of Texas-Tyler (11-5/6-4) as two players recorded double-doubles and five players finished with double figures. Texas-Tyler was just a half-game out of first place heading into tonight’s game and needed a win to propel them into a first-place tie with Texas-Dallas but now are a game back at 6-4 in the ASC East. This is the second time in two weeks that ETBU has upset one of the top teams in the ASC in Ornelas Gym.

    CLARKSVILLE, Ark. – East Texas Baptist University had a hard time shutting down a hot-shooting University of the Ozarks team as they fell on the road in American Southwest Conference East play, 81-65. Ozarks shot 55 percent overall but mad 75 percent of the shots in the second half from the floor. ETBU falls to 6-9 overall and 2-7 in the ASC East.

Texas-Dallas went onto to take the American Southwest Conference East game, 79-49.
