WAYNE, N.J. (NJCUGothicKnights.com) | William Paterson University (3-3, 1-1 NJAC) scored the first seven points of Wednesday's matchup against New Jersey City University (0-4, 0-2 NJAC) and never looked back, leading wire-to-wire in an 83-45 New Jersey Athletic Conference win on November 28 at the Rec Center.

WP won despite senior point guard Marajiah Bacon (Neptune, NJ/Neptune) handling the heavy load on offense with her second double-double in four games as she tallied game highs in points and rebounds. She netted 21 points on 26 shots, with 17 of those points coming in the second half, adding 15 rebounds (11 defensive) with three assists and two steals in 34 minutes.

The Knights scored only 15 points combined in the first half and trailed 36-15 at the break. WP shot 57.1 percent from three-point range (8-14) and made 19-of-25 (76.0 percent) at the line.

Thanks to their large lead throughout, the Pioneers were able to play a dozen different players, 10 of whom scored. They were led by senior guard Julie Rovito (Ridgefield Park, N.J.), who poured in 19 points in 22 minutes. Freshman guard Chloe Kasbarian (Midland Park, N.J.) and senior forward Carolyn Hill (Martinsburg, W.Va.) joined Rovito with 10 or more points, netting 14 and 10 respectively; Hill added seven boards.

For the Gothic Knights, joining her twin sister in double figures was senior small forward Miesha Bacon (Neptune, NJ/Neptune), who had her highest scoring output of the season. She chalked up 10 points. No other Knight had more than four points. Freshman point guard/center Jasmine Reese (Jersey City, NJ/Hudson Catholic) had nine rebounds and three assists, to go along with four points for NJCU.

The Knights couldn't get the lid off the rim in the first half, shooting just 5-31 (16.1 percent) from the field overall, while missing all five of their three-point attempts and wasn't much more successful in the second half (4-15). When the Knights were trying to cut into the lead in the second half, the Pioneers couldn't miss, shooting a scorching 57.1 percent from the field in the second half (16-28), while hitting four of their six threes and successfully keeping the Knights at arm's length.

Seven total players scored for NJCU, with freshman forward Zyearah Taylor-Gaston (Jersey City, NJ/Marist (via St. Anthony)) chipping in four points, four rebounds, and a pair of blocks from her starting spot.
