William Paterson Women’s Basketball Never Trails, Downs New Jersey City for First Conference Win of the Season

WAYNE, N.J. – Three Pioneers scored in double-figures as the William Paterson women's basketball team (3-3, 1-1 NJAC) breezed past New Jersey City (0-4, 0-2 NJAC) for its first New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) victory of the season.  

HOW IT HAPPENED:

  • WP held NJCU to just 5-of-31 (.161) shooting from the floor in the opening half and raced out to a commanding 36-15 advantage after 20 minutes.
  • The Pioneers carried the momentum in the third quarter as a Chloe Kasbarian (Midland Park, N.J./Midland Park) three-pointer, coupled with a driving layup by Carolyn Hill (Martinsburg, W.Va./Spring Mills), pushed the lead to 29 (47-18, 6:51). Junior guard Kye Adams (East Stroudsburg, Pa./East Stroudsburg South) would drain a pair of treys midway through the fourth as William Paterson stretched its lead to 34 (79-45) before closing out the contest, 83-45.


INSIDE THE NUMBERS:

  • Senior guard Julie Rovito (Ridgefield Park, N.J./Ridgefield Park) posted a team-high 19 points, followed by Kasbarian with 14. Hill added 10 tallied to go along with seven boards, while classmate CeCe Green (Boonton, N.J./Boonton) recorded eight points and seven rebounds.
  • WP held staggering margins in bench points (61-4) and points in the paint (30-20).
  • As a team, William Paterson sank 19-of-25 (.760) free throw attempts.
