La Plume, Pa.—Sophomore center Maddy Moro made sure that senior guard Nina Hodanich's final game at Keystone College was a memorable one.
Moro put on a clinic in the low post, finishing with 21 points, 22 rebounds and six blocks as the Giants pulled away in the fourth period en route to a 64-47 victory over Notre Dame of Maryland University in Colonial States Athletic Conference action Saturday at the Gambal Athletic Center.
Keystone also received a big lift off the bench from freshman guard Bre Moore, who scored nine of her 15 points in the first half to help the Giants erase an 8-point lead and trail by only two, 27-25, at intermission. With the win, Keystone ends its 2017-2018 season with a 7-18 record, including a 6-10 mark in the CSAC.
Junior guard Justin Mudiay led the Gators, now 7-18 overall and 3-13 in the CSAC, with 13 points and senior guard Naimani Staley chipped in eight points and three rebounds in 18 minutes off the bench.
And while Moore provide the spark in the first half, it was fellow freshman Autum Kitajima who came through in the third, burying a pair of 3-pointers as the Giants out-scored the Gators, 18-11, to take a five-point lead into the final stanza.
The Gators trailed by only three with 9:42 left before Keystone freshman guard Sydney Craig scored four straight points to ignite a 15-3 spurt that gave the Giants a 15-point cushion with 3:25 remaining. Keystone's lead eventually ballooned to 19 points.
Hodanich finished with seven points, five rebounds, and five assists in her final game for the Giants. She ends her career with 619 points, 256 rebounds, 120 assists and 115 steals. She is also ninth all-time in Keystone history with 80 3-point field goals made in a career.
Moro's 21 rebounds give her 283 for the season, which is the fifth highest single-season output in Keystone history. She ended the year with six straight 'double-doubles' in points and rebounds and ten for the season. She also pulled down at least 20 rebounds in four games.
