Hodanich to play final basketball game for Giants Saturday at Gambal

Hodanich to be honor prior to tip-off as part of Senior Day festivities

Nina Hodanich (Scranton, Pa./West Scranton) will play her final game for the Keystone College women's basketball team this Saturday, February 17, when the Giants hosts Notre Dame of Maryland University in Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) action at 1:00 p.m. in the Gambal Athletic Center.  Prior to tip-off, she will be honored for her contributions to the program.

In three seasons, Hodanich has started 52 of 65 career games and has poured in 612 points, pulled down over 250 rebounds, handed out 115 assists and made 114 steals.  She is currently ninth all-time in Giants' history with 79 made 3-point field goals.

And her senior year keeps getting better.  She has scored in double figures in six of her last 10 games to raise her scoring average from 7.0 points per game on January 15 to a current mark of 10.1, which is second-highest on the team behind freshman Bre Moore (Charleston, W.Va./Pennwood) (11.8).  Among her more notable recent performances is a season-high 22-point effort in a 70-56 win over Clarks Summit University at home on January 31.  She also tossed in a team-high 13 points in Wednesday's 51-41 loss to Centenary University.

Her athletic career at Keystone will continue, however, as she is a member of the Giant women's lacrosse team.

Notre Dame of Maryland news and notes:  the Gators will play the University of Valley Forge Thursday evening before concluding their season Saturday afternoon…Notre Dame is 7-16 overall entering Thursday's non-conference game at Valley Forge and 3-12 in the CSAC…Thursday's game will be the second meeting between Notre Dame and Valley Forge; the Gators won the first matchup, 87-82, in a game played at Muhlenberg College in Allentown on November 18…senior forward Zaria Comer leads the Gators in scoring (15.1), rebounding (8.9), and blocked shots (51)…Notre Dame snapped a six-game losing streak on Tuesday, February 13, by downing Trinity Washington, 68-46, at home.

Keystone news and notes (team):  Giants had a two-game winning streak snapped with a 51-41 loss to Centenary University in CSAC action Wednesday evening at Gambal…despite that loss, Keystone has won three of its last five games…Giants are shooting 79.3 percent from the free throw line in their last two games (23 of 29)…Keystone's bench has out-scored its opponents' reserves in each of its last three games:  by three points against Cedar Crest on February 8, by 16 against Immaculata on February 10, and by two points against Centenary Wednesday.

Keystone news and notes (individual):  Sophomore Maddy Moro (Danville, Pa./Danville Area) has recorded 'double-doubles' in points and rebounds in each of her last five games and nine times this year; in all likelihood, she will move into the top 10 Saturday on the Giants' single-season rebounding list, needing just two rebounds to surpass Rachel Vamos (262, 1999-2000) for tenth place…Hodanich is 19 points shy of 200 for the season.
