DOYLESTOWN, Pa.– Eastern University Women's Basketball put together a dominant defensive performance to pull past the host Delaware Valley Aggies and secure the fourth and final spot in the MAC Freedom Tournament. The Eagles held the Aggies to 3-of-29 shooting and 11 points in the second half to claim a 48-33 win.

Both teams struggled from the floor in the first half, but the Aggies made four more free throws to hold a 22-19 lead at the break. Both teams shot 8-for-31 and neither team built more than a one-possession lead at any point in the first 20 minutes.

"We missed a lot of opportunities in the first half," Head Coach Eric Houston said after the game. "We played well at the defensive end, but we missed our layups."

As good as the defense was in the first half, it got better in the second. The Aggies scored the first basket of the second half, and then were only able to make two more field goals the rest of the way. Emily Lavin and Regie Robinson were dominant on the glass. They each finished the game with 19 rebounds. Lavin, who reached 900 career rebounds early in the game, also blocked four shots and scored ten points.

After Robinson scored the first two Eastern baskets of the second half, Taylor Price took over. The junior guard put the Eagles up for good with a 3-pointer midway through the third period. She then capped the period with her third 3-pointer of the game at the buzzer.

The Eastern lead grew to seven when Robinson found Price for another 3-pointer to start the fourth period. The Aggies scored their only field goal of the fourth quarter to cut the Eastern lead to 36-32 with eight and a half minutes to play. The Eagles made enough free throws down the stretch to pull away late.

Price led all scorers with 15 points, and Lavin added ten. Led by Robinson and Lavin's dominating efforts, the Eagles finished with a 65-41 edge on the glass. The Eagles won despite shooting only 25 percent from the floor and 50 percent from the foul line.

"We did a really nice job on the defensive end." Houston concluded. "It was not our best day offensively, but we kept them from getting the shots they wanted and won the battle of the boards."

The Eagles (16-8, 7-6 MAC Freedom) will host Wilkes in the regular-season finale on Saturday. The team will honor Emily Lavin before the game. With the results today, Eastern will play at FDU-Florham in the MAC Freedom Semifinal on February 22.
