KING'S WOMEN FALL ON ROAD TO MANHATTANVILLE, 78-67

PURCHASE, NY --  The host Manhattanville College women's basketball team outscored King's College 42-25 over the course of the second half as the Valiants posted a 78-57 victory in a Freedom Conference matchup Sunday in Purchase, NY.

With the win Manhattaville improved to 12-4 and 4-2 in Freedom Conference play while King's slipped to 10-7 and 3-3.

After Manhattanville took a 36-32 lead at the half, the Valiants came out the gates for the third quarter and used a 10-4 spurt to stretch the lead to 46-36 
after a Candice Scott-Mason lay-up with 7:21 on the clock. After King's cut the lead to nine points at the 3:15 mark, the Valiants used an 8-2 surge to extend the lead to 60-45, before settling for a 60-46 heading into the game's final 10 minutes. 

The lead continued to grow as Manhattanville pushed the score to 70-48 after a Bri Pabon foul shots with 6:52 to play. King's would come no closer than 19 points the rest of the way after shooting just 25.0 (8-32) percent in the second half.

Pabon led the Valiants with 20 points and six assists while Ashely Raaf and Kayleah McGuire added 14 points apiece.

King's, which committed 22 turnovers in the game, placed just one player in double-figures scoring. Jen Fabian topped the Lady Monarchs with 10 points and 10 rebounds while Kayla Feairheller followed with nine points and five boards off the bench.  Tara Zdancewicz added eight points and four rebounds while Alexis Steeber posted six points and four rebounds.

King's, which surrendered just 57.3 points per-game this season, allowed a season-high 78 to Manhattanville on Sunday.


King's returns to the floor Wednesday when the Lady Monarchs host cross-town rival Wilkes at 6:00 p.m. in Scandlon Gymnasium.
